US Congress prepares for ‘Crypto Week’

The U.S. Congress is gearing up for a pivotal “Crypto Week” from July 14 to 18, 2025, during which the House of Representatives will debate and likely vote on three major cryptocurrency bills that could significantly shape the nation’s digital asset landscape.

This legislative push, led by Republican leadership, aims to establish clear regulatory frameworks, safeguard consumer protections, and define the role of digital currencies in the U.S. economy.

Key bills on the agenda include the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act), which seeks to provide safe harbors for innovation while protecting investors, and more. The GENIUS Act focuses on stablecoins, enabling private companies to issue dollar-backed stablecoins with one-to-one cash backing, and has already passed the Senate with bipartisan support. Lastly, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act aims to block the creation of a U.S. Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to protect Americans’ financial privacy.

The industry is watching closely and urging lawmakers to act swiftly. Advocacy groups like Stand With Crypto emphasize the urgency of this moment, highlighting the bipartisan momentum and the need to finalize legislation that provides clarity and fosters innovation.

Over 65 companies and organizations recently sent a letter urging support for the CLARITY Act, underscoring the critical nature of regulatory certainty for the crypto sector.

In addition to floor votes, the House Committee on Ways & Means will hold a hearing titled “Making America the Crypto Capital of the World: Ensuring Digital Asset Policy Built for the 21st Century,” focusing on the tax policy framework for digital assets. This hearing reflects the broader effort to align tax and regulatory policies with the evolving crypto ecosystem.

If passed, these bills could reach President Donald Trump’s desk swiftly, with expectations he may sign them into law soon after the House votes, marking a historic step toward positioning the U.S. as a global leader in digital assets.
