US and Iran Dive into Nuclear Talks in Geneva

The United States and Iran are kicking off their second round of indirect talks in Geneva, Switzerland, focusing on Iran's nuclear program. With tensions boiling over in the Middle East, this could be a real turning point or just more back-and-forth.
These negotiations aren't face-to-face; they're mediated by Oman to keep things civil. On the US side, you've got Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who's President Donald Trump's son-in-law, leading the charge. Iran's team is headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The talks started this morning, February 17, 2026, and Trump himself mentioned aboard Air Force One that he'd be "indirectly" involved, hinting Iran might be ready to cut a deal.
It's all happening at the Omani embassy, building on the first round that wrapped up in Oman on February 6. The US has beefed up its military presence in the region, sending more ships and planes, while Iran is running massive naval drills.
This comes after last year's escalations, including US strikes on Iranian sites during a conflict with Israel. Experts say a nuclear deal could prevent a full-blown war, but both sides are drawing hard lines, Iran wants sanctions lifted, and the US demands strict limits on enrichment.
