SEC’s crypto task force to hit the road with 10 roundtables across the US
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Crypto Task Force, led by Commissioner Hester Peirce, is launching a nationwide 10-city roundtable series across the United States from August to December 2025. These roundtables aim to engage directly with stakeholders in the digital asset space—including crypto startups, developers, and investors—to gather input that will help shape future crypto regulations.
The initiative is part of the SEC's broader Project Crypto, which focuses on modernizing securities regulations to accommodate blockchain technology and digital finance innovations.
The roundtables prioritize voices from smaller and early-stage crypto projects, with an emphasis on practical challenges and regulatory clarity unique to digital assets. Topics discussed in prior roundtables included how to classify crypto assets under securities law, regulatory jurisdiction overlaps, investor protections, market structure, custody considerations, and the potential for regulation tailored to decentralized technologies.
This outreach marks a shift in the SEC’s approach from enforcement-first tactics toward a more collaborative regulatory framework designed to address the technological realities of crypto markets while safeguarding investors. The 10-city tour of roundtables will provide a platform for ongoing dialogue between the SEC and the crypto community to help mold future policy and regulations.
This effort follows earlier SEC crypto roundtables held in spring 2025 that explored foundational issues such as security classifications, market structure, and regulatory jurisdiction, signaling ongoing institutional engagement with complex crypto regulatory challenges.
