Well done, I also joined about 7 years ago.
The fact that we're still around is rare and legendary. Here's a sad fact of Hive:
"Over the years hive had had some 2.5 million accounts. Yet there might be under 8000 active users."
What do you think is going on?

Yeah but that's 2.5 million ACCOUNTS.
How many are unique vs Alt accounts.
Is that HIVE or Total including before the split.
Same question for active users.
Still its a nice core base that can be built on.
As for my take as to whats going on: people get scared off the site. Sometimes by the moderators of the place trying to mold Hive into what they want it to be instead of letting it become what the masses decide. Other times by their own expectations such as comparing their personal post rewards with those making hundreds daily/ weekly. The rewards one is a tough one for most to overcome because everyone will spout to said users the claim that making good content will lead to getting votes. The truth to that is good content is subjective and Hive is more complicated than that company line suggests. Then there is the learning curve of HIVE and cryptocurrency in general. It's a push and shove that can slow progress and hurt user retention. That being said I'm happy there are those that care enough to moderate at all. Even if I don't agree with some of their actions/ policies or outlook on what is a good post or isn't I'm happy they put the time in to try and keep the place clean of junk posts trending. Regardless There will be no stopping WEB2 type of posting if WEB2 flocks here. At least not within the current blog model hive currently has.
