The Adventures of Trucker Jongo - 12 Hours In!
O.K., so that's not the greatest photo.
But it means a lot to me because today it began....
Like many of you know, I started going to 'trucking school' way back in January of this year. I passed my exam and got my Class 1 driver's licence a few months later with the hopes and dreams of....Driving for a living.
Fun little story about 'trucking' in Canada.
There is a massive demand for drivers. Go to any job board in any part of the country and you'll see countless job opportunities for every kind of driver imaginable. They all require that Class 1, which I got this year so I thought for sure...I'd get through school and start my new career right away.
Welp, not so fast!
You see, while there are thousands of openings, most of them require the driver to have experience on the road.
And you guessed it, I'm a brand new trucker with a grand total of 0 time on the road lol
So for the past few months, I've been applying everywhere. I finally got a job driving a cement truck about a month ago, and let's just say....It didn't work out. Plus, my 'dream' was to be on the open road. It's kind of funny, but this is something I've always loved doing and the thought of being able to take care of my family, doing something I love...Well, it catered to my entrepreneurial spirit :)
About a week and a half ago, I left the cement job and quickly started applying to companies again. I heard back that same afternoon, went in for the interview and quick driving test and presto....I got the job!
Over the past week, I've been training with this company to make sure I'm as ready as possible for...
Today!
Right now, I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada about a day into my 'career' as a trucker. I'm sitting pn the side of the highway, in my sleeper, writing this blog post....Literally, in my truck lol
So while I may not be as active as usual over the next few weeks as I get my scheudle down, I will do my best to post...Daily!
Earning crypto, seeing the country, loving what I do....
Hey, my first option would be sitting at my desk at home, sharing with the world my love for thsi blockchain and all the projects in it. But this is the next best thing!

Good luck on your trucking journey. How long will each trip be? A few days?
This one will be a few days for sure. I'll have to see. Right now I'm only driving Canada. But I'll be going on longer trips to the States in a few weeks.

Yeah it's the company truck but I'm in it until they move me to different routes. Right now, only about 500 miles or so from home. But plenty to pick up along the way lol

Well, what can I say, you're doing what you can, and still the job opportunities for drivers is quite good over there, I'm guessing you'll get better on the job, get the experience you need and everything will turn out fine, the goal to build a Crypto future is still there, everyone's allowed to take a breather sometimes.
Yeah man, that's what is cool...I'll still be able to do my work on Hive. Just a different times of the day lol

I pay for this climate in canada than the snow one lol. I feel it's good to explore canada during the off snow months. I am sure you must be enjoying the new work.

Good for you. I've been contemplating the same move myself. I've been at my job for almost seven years now. I see that truckers can earn as much or more than I'm earning now, with a small fraction of the BS.
Of course, I'd miss being home with my family. My youngest is still in high school. But maybe once she graduates, I'll head to the open road.
My cousin did trucking for a while. He stopped because of the weight gain. He wasn't eating well. I'd say be mindful of your diet out there.
Yeah it's only been 2 days but I miss my family already. But this is a sacrifice my wife and I decided was needed to get where we want.
Yeah i'm on the no carb diet out here...It's tough lol

Good luck at your new job, man. On one hand I would really love that, but on the other, I get a little too stressed by the highway sometimes, especially when it starts getting busy, so it probably wouldn't be for me. That said, the idea is wonderful, just driving, enjoying the countryside—and getting paid for it!

Now I know that there is really a massive demand for Truck drivers there in Canada. You know, I once have a student here in the Philippines, when his family migrated to Canada, now I am seeing him posting pictures that he is now a Truck Driver and I am really happy for him.
