Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Up to Eleven
Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Up to Eleven rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Reverse Speed and Up to Eleven. This means that slower cards move first and all counter damage is amplified in damage. There is also 38 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, and death splinter.
The summoner I choose to use this time is Possibilus the Wise. In this match, having +2 health, trample and reach is nice. There are a few good slow melee monsters in the water deck.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Possibilus the Wise | 6 | Summoner | +2 health, trample and reach |
Torhilo the Frozen | 9 | 1st | Void |
Coastal Sentry | 10 | 2nd | Double Strike |
River Hellondale | 7 | 3rd | Inspire and Resurrect |
Feasting Seaweed | 4 | 4th | Opportunity |
Igor Darkspear | 2 | 5th | Damage Dealer |
Torrent Fiend | 0 | 6th | Filler |
Total Mana: | 38 |
My plan is to have Torhilo tank some hits with the void ability and Coastal Sentry second with double strike ability. I also have a opportunity will do its best to kill off his low-health monsters. I have River Hellondale for the inspire ability so my melee monsters do more damage and for the resurrect. The rest are filler monsters to deal damage or take some damage.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage because Torhilo has void and my opponent is going to be focusing his damage on that monster alone. My opponent does have the speed advantage due to the ruleset though. However, I do think that I have a good chance so long as I don't miss too much.
Round 2
Not much happened during the previous round but I realized that my opponent had a monster with blind. It could hurt me because it increases the chance that I will miss.
Round 3
I was able to take out one monster and my resurrect kicked in. So I will be able to get one more hit in with Torhilo before it dies.
Round 4
It's getting dangerous due to all the misses that I have had this fight but I am still confident in my chances. The trample from my melees can still win me this match.
I was lucky enough to not miss my attacks and win the match.
Conclusion
The battle did not go exactly as I would like but I still won this match. I don't know if using Coastal Sentry was the best idea or not because it's trading damage for its low speed in this match. Fortunately, the resurrect did give me enough time to kill off my opponent's monsters and win the match in the end. It was far closer than I would have liked due to all the misses that I had this match.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
