Splinterlands: Underboss Fabino is an amazing summoner

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because my opponent used Celestial Guardian.

Underboss Fabino is an Earth summoner that costs 5 mana. It can give two ally units +2 melee damage or poison one of the enemy units. Leveling up this summoner increases the maximum level of the cards that you can use in fights. I have been using this summoner alot in Modern because it's one of my higher level summoners available, and the abilities that it gives are too powerful. Combining the melee damage with opportunity monsters are a good choice.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is Unprotected and Equalizer. This means that all monsters have no armor and they start at the same health. There is also 19 mana available, and I can use fire, water, earth, or dragon splinter.

Total Mana:16

I use Underboss Fabino as my summoner for the +2 melee damage on two monsters. Halfling Refugee is a low mana cost monster that I can place up front. Following that are my two opportunity monsters Thanalorian Blade and Halaran Huntress. One of which has execute so it can do some follow-up attacks.

My plan is to deal as much damage as I can with my monsters. The opportunity monsters will focus down their damage, and with the extra 2 damage, each of them can deal 4 damage. If Thanalorian Blade gets execute off, then it can deal up to 6 damage.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. My opponent has less damage than me, and I have the speed advantage on all but 1 monster. It will just depend on whether or not I miss on that last monster.

Round 4

round 4.png
My opponents and I traded blows, but I won out on the exchange. My opponent didn't survive very long as I didn't miss any attacks, and my opponent was down to just one monster left. There is nothing my opponent can do anymore at this point.

I ended up winning this match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time played out as I expected. Underboss Fabino increased my damage, and I had damage advantage over my opponent. Combining that melee damage increase with opportunity monsters worked out well. I also had quite a few fast monsters so the speed advantage made it less likely for me to miss any attacks. Overall, I think this summoner is great, and it shines even more in these low mana matches.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

It's not a summoner that I see used a lot, the poison pick can be good too if the enemy has a strong monster and you want to take it out...

The 2 green melee cards you boosted are the ones I use the most
