Splinterlands: Swamp Spitter's repair is a great ability

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Swamp Spitter.

Featured cards

Swamp Spitter is a water monster that costs 7 mana. It starts with repair, and learns Giant Killer at level 6. When this used to be part of modern, I used it a lot when combined with Keyla because all monsters would have armor.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Aim True. This means that monsters can't miss. There is also 35 mana available, and I can use every splinter except fire, earth, life, and dragon.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Kelya Frendul4Summoner+1 armor and speed
Alva the Crusher61stShield and Bloodlust
Flying Squid72ndReach
Demented Shark63rdInspire
Deeplurker64thOpportunity
Swamp Spitter75thRepair
Total Mana:36

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Kelya Frendul for the +1 speed and armor. Alva the Crusher is my tank with shield. After that is Flying Squid with reach. Demented Shark has inspire, and Deeplurker has opportunity. My last monster is Swamp Spitter with repair to reduce the damage I take every round.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have a slight advantage. I do have faster monsters, and I have more damage.

Round 3

round 3.png
A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just 1 monster left, while I still have all of mine. This is my win because my opponent can't attack anymore.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. Swamp Spitter was targeted from the start of the match, but that repair did a great job of mitigating the damage. As time passed, my other monsters wiped out the surrounding monsters and gave me an easy win. My opponent's damage was too spread out.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Great game. I think the swamp spitter took over 80% of the attack thrown to your team and that repair ability came through. That generation of free cards we got was actually the best.
