Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Uriel the Purifier is a great tank
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of I used Uriel the Purifier.
Featured cards
Uriel the Purifier is a life splinter that costs 11 mana. This card is a gladiator, and it starts with the flying and recharge ability. It learns heal at level 2 and redemption at level 4. This is a fairly good tank, and I do use this card from time to time. It doesn't attack often, but it packs quite a punch. So long as the opponent doesn't have a repair monster, this tank usually wipes out monsters. It can go down when focused down, so combining it with other cards helps it out. The only downside is the high mana cost.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Odd Ones Out and Earthquake. This means only odd mana monsters can be used, and any monsters without flying will take damage every turn.. There are also 18 mana available, and I can choose fire, life, and death splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
General Sloan | 4 | Summoner | +1 ranged attack |
Uriel the Purifier | 11 | 1st | Flying, Heal, and Recharge |
Venari Marksrat | 3 | 2nd | Martyr |
Total Mana: | 18 |
I use Franz General Sloan as my summoner for the +1 ranged attack. I have Uriel as my tank and Venari Marksrat as my 2nd monster with martyr. If the fight lasts long enough, then my Uriel will get buffed. Either way, I plan on outlasting my opponent as my tank can heal the damage that it takes every round.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the win in the bag. My opponent doesn't have enough damage to kill off my Uriel before the earthquake destroys his damage dealers. It's just a matter of time to win the match and the sneak monster will just buff my Uriel faster.
I ended up winning this match a few rounds later, as I expected. There wasn't anything my opponent could do as I healed up all the damage and earthquake wiped out that backline.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out how I wanted it to. My entire focus was to outlast my opponent and slowly kill off my opponent. There just wasn't much my opponent could do when the earthquake damage just slowly took out my opponent. The flying ability on Uriel made it hard to hit and the heals did the job at anything that did land. So this was just an endurance match against my opponent. The only downside is that Uriel could only attack every other turn, so the fight was a bit slower than I would like. My marytr monster only made Uriel harder to hit for my opponent.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I like it too, becomes great at level 2 with healing
Yea. It becomes good with healing. If it doesn't have it, then it isn't a good choice.

your one card killed all his last 85 cards
The Uriel is an amazing card. Unfortunately for me I only have one or two BCX and don't use it as much because it doesn't have heal ability that comes with level 2. Congratulations on that win
Yea. It's not as appealing if its not level 2 for the heals.
