Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: My opponent burned himself to death
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles, with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because my opponent used a burn monster and this led to his lost.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Little League, Going the Distance, and Are You Not Entertained?. This means that only ranged monsters with a mana cost of 4 or less can be used, and you can use an extra gladiator card in the match. I can use fire, earth, or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Drake of Arnak | 4 | Summoner | +1 armor |
Tower Griffin | 4 | 1st | Flying |
Venari Marksrat | 3 | 2nd | Martyr |
Lava Spider | 3 | 3rd | Snipe |
Scavo Firebolt | 4 | 4th | |
Spark Pixies | 4 | 5th | Flying |
Sarius | 3 | 6th | Bloodlust |
Total Mana: | 25 |
I use Drake of Arnak as my summoner for the +1 armor. Tower Griffin is my first tank with flying. After that is Venari Marksrat with martyr. Lava Spider is a snipe monster and it also serves as a backup tank. After that is Scavo Firebolt, Spark Pixies, and Sarius as damage dealers. Spark Pixies has flying and Sarius has bloodlust.
My strategy is to deal as much damage to my opponent as I can before my tanks go down. The armor from my summoner will help me in that regard because only ranged monsters can be used, and the extra armor can soak up the first damage that my opponent does. Tower Griffin is my main tank due to the flying as it can dodge a few attacks and give my damage dealers more chance of dealing damage. Venari Marksrat is there to deal with any snipe monsters that my opponent has because it can boost up the neighboring cards. Not much to say about the last 3 monsters, but they will deal damage and Sarius can be a strong damage dealer if it can stack some bloodlust.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent will be reducing my speed and ranged attack with his summoner. The only good thing is that my opponent has a bunch of snipe monsters so my marytr might proc, and my opponent could lose if it takes too long due to the burn.
Round 4
I fast-forwarded to round 4 because I didn't think it was that interesting to see me and my opponent trade blows. It's not looking good for the remaining monsters that I have, but my opponents burn is starting to damage his monsters.
Round 6
Both me and my opponent are down to 2 monsters, but his 2nd monster is burned. This match is over for my opponent because there is no way for my opponent to kill off all my monsters before that burn kicks in. Even if he were to, I would win due to fatigue.
I ended up later that round because the burned reduced my enemy down to 1 monster left.
Conclusion
The battle this time did play out as I expected. I was focused more on trying to survive and letting my damage dealers do the rest of the work. My strategy worked, but I was not expecting my opponent to use a monster with burn. That burn slowly destroyed my opponent's backline over time. This let me win barely. I wasn't expecting to win because of my opponent's summoner and level advantage over me.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

The griffin on first position was a good idea! Conjurer with ranged only is risky as it's harder it gets killed by sneak and such hence burning all team like how it happened here

Burn flipped the whole match around. It looked like your opponent had the edge, but that slow backline damage just increased until it was too late
