Splinterlands: Saltwater Mage is a great way to kill the backline

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Saltwater Mage.

Featured cards

Saltwater Mage is a water splinter that costs 8 mana. This splinter starts off with the sneak ability, but leveling it does increase its stats. I use this card quite often in Frontier due to its damage, and sometimes, having sneak is great at taking out that backline.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Engraged Warriors and Aim True. This means that all monsters start off with the divine shield ability, and melee monsters attack first. There is also 36 mana available, and I can use every splinter except for life and death.

Marlai Singariel6Summoner+1 magic
Asel Alagosdil41stDivine Shield

Total Mana:36

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon increases my magic monster's damage. They are my primary damage dealers, and I just use Asel as a tank to keep those magic monsters alive.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way because my opponent is using A'lan. If I can kill that A'lan, then I can even things out but otherwise my opponent has the damage advantage.

Round 6

round 6.png

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup has just two monsters left, and I still have three monsters. My opponent has lost A'lan, so I think this match is win due to my damage advantage.

I won the match as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time did go exactly as planned. Saltwater Mage did a great job of killing off my opponent's A'lan. That was the main reason why my lineup won was beacuse I took out that troublesome damage dealer. The rest of the match just fell into place.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

That is the job of monsters with the SNEAK ability, target the opponents unit in the last position. Kudos warrior.

I love the Saltwater Mage. I particularly enjoy combining it with Captain Fellblade for enemy back line pressure. Mixing it up with these two keep my enemy guessing.

Targeting the main damage card of your opponent was where everything actually fell in place, these are the games that makes splinterlands special

I think it is a good decision to use Saltwater Mage as it takes down the primary damage dealer of the enemy team
