Splinterlands: Quantity is better than Quality in Equalizer
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used lower mana monsters.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Back to the Born Again and Equalizer. This means that all monsters start off with the same health and gain the rebirth ability. There is also 34 mana available, and I can use fire, earth, or death splinter.
This ruleset is interesting because each monster has the same health, and they can revive. Depending on your lineup, you can create some tanky lineups.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurelia | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Spellmonger | 4 | 1st | Thorns |
| Vicious Quilliun | 5 | 2nd | Opportunity |
| Grand Consul Minion | 4 | 3rd | |
| Kicking Roc | 8 | 4th | |
| Wilhelmdale Deputy | 7 | 5th | Snare |
| Total Mana: | 34 |
My summoner is Aurelia the +1 health. My tank is Spellmonger with thorns. My backup tank is Vicious Quilliun with opportunity. After that is my ranged monsters for damage, and I have Minion there because it's a low cost ranged monster.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while I deal as much damage as possible. I just find Spellmonger to the perfect tank due to its low cost and thorns. It just felt better to have my monsters delay my opponent while my ranged damage dealers kill off my opponent.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage. My opponent has a level advantage, but he has one less monster, and the thorns can help me reduce the gap. If I can take out my opponent's tank fast, then this match will be an easy fight.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent is left down to 1 monster while I still have 3. My opponent has far less damage than me so there is no way I will lose this match.

I won that match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly as planned. I used lower mana monsters because the equalizer and born again rulesets will allow them to tank hits. By doing so, I was able to delay my opponent and allow my ranged monsters to finish off my opponent.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
