Splinterlands: Overpowering my opponent with quantity in Back to the Basics
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I saw a battle where I took advantage of the ruleset.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Back to the Basics and Lost Magic. This means that all monsters have no abilities and no magic monsters can be used. There is also 28 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire or dragon.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wizard of Eastwood | 3 | Summoner | -2 Armor |
| Nectar Queen | 9 | 1st | |
| Failed Summoner | 2 | 2nd | |
| Gobson Sniper | 5 | 3rd | |
| Vampiric Blossom | 5 | 4th | |
| Goblin Chariot | 5 | 5th | |
| Total Mana: | 29 |
My summoner is Wizard of Eastwood for the -2 armor. I have Nectar Queen as my tank and Failed Summoner as my backup tank. The rest of my monsters are all ranged monsters so they can deal damage while my tanks take the damage.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. The first few monsters can tank most of the damage, and the rest of my lineup is all focused on dealing ranged damage. There are no abilities, so the extra damage from range will help. Also, my archon reduces armor and that can give me an advantage.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. My opponent doesn't have as much damage as I do, but he does have tankier monsters. My tanks will be alive for a few turns so I can deal damage during that time period.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to 2 monsters, while I still have 4. This is my win because the first monster will die from my magic monsters, and that means my opponent can't attack anymore.

I won later that round.
Conclusion
The battle did go exactly as planned. I took advantage of the ruleset to put some tankier monsters up front because they will always get targeted. With this, the rest of my ranged monsters could focus on damage and gave me a win.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
