Splinterlands: New Update to the card selection list under specific rulesets

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about something new in the card selection screen.

Rulesets and Abilities on cards

Above, we can see the Counterspell ruleset as part of the battle, and we can see the magic reflect ability blinking in blue on the cards in the list of abilities. For example, the reach ability under Chaos Furybringer is not colored blue. I believe that this is a good change, as it will make it easier for new players, as they can see the effects of the ruleset on the cards available.

This change applies to other abilities as well such as the Return Fire ability in the Fire & Regret ruleset. I also saw it apply to armor in the Protected Ruleset. I just love the change, as it makes Splinterlands a little less complicated because there are already a ton of abilities and rulesets in the game.

Conclusion

I just find myself liking this change because it reminded me of how difficult things were when I was first playing. It was just rough to learn how attack order worked, and how abilities and rulesets changed how a battle can turn out. This change might be minor to me since I understand the system, but I think this is the perfect change to help new players. I just think that the current game is hard for new players because there are a lot more rulesets and abilities in the game when compared to when I first started playing.
