Splinterlands: Mystic Scaleweaver is one of the best water cards in Frontier

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Mystic Scaleweaver.

Featured cards

Mystic Scaleweaver is a water splinter that costs 9 mana. It starts with slow. Leveling this card does not give it any new abilities, but it does increase its magic damage by 1.

I think this is the strongest magic monster in all of Frontier due to the slow ability. With the stats being so close for most monsters, the -1 speed can help quite a bit in fights, and the magic damage it can output is quite high. Add in its high health, and it can work decently as a backup tank.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Thick Skinned and Keep Your Distance. This means that no melee monsters can be used, and all monsters take reduced ranged damage. There is also 48 mana available, and I can use fire, water, earth, or life splinter.

This is an interesting match as it heavily favors magic monsters. I don't see any summoners outside of water being a good option at all. Ranged monsters have reduced damage, so it just doesn't seem worthwhile. So, building around the monsters that water has is the best option.

My strategy is built around countering the water deck. Asel Alagosdil is my tank with divine shield. After that are 4 magic monsters, with one of them being Mystic Scaleweaver. My last monster is Spitting Camel as a filler.

The focus of this lineup is built around keeping my magic monsters alive as much as I can while limiting my opponent. I have Spitting Camel in my last spot because it has 7 health, and this means that if my opponent uses Saltwater Mage, it would require 3 hits to kill it. I will be focusing on my opponent with the rest of my monsters. Mystic Scaleweaver is one of the important monsters in this lineup because the slow can give me a turn order advantage over my opponent.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match is my win. My opponent has a level disadvantage in his monsters, and he also does not have Mystic Scaleweaver. This means that I have more magic monsters than my opponent, and that I also have the speed advantage over him.

Round 4

round 4.png
I did lose two monsters, but my opponent is down to two injured monsters. There is no way I can lose this fight because I have the speed advantage.

I ended up winning this match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time played out exactly like I planned. By building my lineup against what the water deck has, I was able to win this match with ease. If my opponent used anything other than water, then I would not be in any trouble at all due to the ruleset. That was why I was so confident in my lineup. Camel was a great sneak tank, and the rest of my lineup dealt damage as I thought it would.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

You explained the Mystic Scaleweaver strategy very well. Understanding the card’s unique abilities and using it according to the battle rules really gives a winning edge

I think any card is good depending on the ruleset. There are so many different strategies in Splinterlands.
