Splinterlands: Merdhampir is a good back up in Little League and Close Range

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Merdhampir.

Featured cards

Merdhampir is a water splinter that costs 4 mana. This splinter starts with just the life leech ability. As it levels up, it learns stats increase, and it learns cripple at level 4 and snare at level 9.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Unprotected, Little League, and Close range. This means that monsters have no armour, must have a mana cost lower than or equal to 4, and range monsters gain the close range ability. There is also 28 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for life and death.

It's rare to see this combination, but little league and close range is quite interesting. You can mix in ranged monsters in places where they wouldn't be becausee they can attack from the first position now.

My summoner is Bortus for the -1 magic. My tank is Chaos Rear Guard wtih shield. Merdhampir is my backup tank with life leech. After this is Feasting Seaweed with opportunity. Merdaali Guardian is my healer for Chaos Rear Guard. My last two monsters are just some ranged damage dealers.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while the rest of my lineup deals damage. My first two monsters can tank quite a few hits depending on the situation, and most of my lineup is focused on dealing damage.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent has a summoner that increases his damage, and those sneak monsters can deal quite a bit of damage. At the same time, I am worried about my opponent's tank because it increases his speed and has thorns. I do think that I have more damage, so it depends on who can kill faster.

Round 8

round 8.png
A few rounds later, my opponent has a monster with heal left, and I don't have many monsters left. My healer is dead, so now it will depend on whether or not I will miss or not.

I won that match a few rounds later.

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. My lineup worked in the end as my tanks up front soaked up the damage. It was too bad that my backline died, but there wasn't too much I could there. At least they did their job before dying. Merdhampir worked out well because that life leech gave it so much health.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ ALERT ⚠️⚠️⚠️

HIVE coin is currently at a critically low liquidity. It is strongly suggested to withdraw your funds while you still can.

The Close Range ruleset definitely saved you toward the end.
