Splinterlands: Melee monsters are good in What Doesn't Kill You

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I saw a battle where I won because I took advantage of the ruleset.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Blood and Sunder and What Doeesn't kill you. This means all monsters gain the enrage and corrosive ward ability. There is also 26 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire and water.

The thorns make it so that melee monsters have increased damage while the rest only get boosted speed when damaged. The corrosive ward also shows that melee monsters lose armor as they attack. This is quite interesting to set up.

Aurelia6Summoner+1 Health
Dread Tafarian91stHeal
Mad Gearhead62ndReach
Vicious Quilliun53rdOpportunity
Total Mana:26

My summoner is Aurelia for +1 health. I have Dread Tafarian as my tank with heal. Mad Gearhead is my backup tank with reach, and Vicious Quilliun has opportunity.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. Dread Tafarian is a great tank that heals itself so it will stay alive longer, and the enrage can also increase its damage. The rest of my melee monsters can attack from their current position, and they will also get extra melee damage when damaged.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage due to my melee monsters. My opponent will suffer once he loses his tank because ranged monsters can't attack from the first position.

Round 4

A few rounds later, I am left with all my monsters alive, but my opponent only has 2 left. My opponent can no longer outdamage my healer so this is my win

I won later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned. I won this match because I took advantage of the ruleset to get some extra damage plus speed. My opponent used ranged monsters, but it didn't work out well because they coudln't attack from the first position.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Once the frontline of the enemy team is taken down the match is very easier to win
