Splinterlands: Letting my opponent kill himself in Collateral Damage
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I took advantage of the Collateral damage ruleset.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Born Again and Collateral Damage. This means that all monsters gain the rebirth and reckless ability. There is also 58 mana available, and I can use fire or death splinter.
This is an interesting combination because monsters revive, and the reckless ability damages your own team. A revived monster can die by an ally unit right after they revive due to that reckless ability.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barthalamas | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed |
| Agniavan Salamander | 8 | 1st | |
| Spellmonger | 4 | 2nd | Thorns |
| Scales of Justice | 5 | 3rd | Dodge |
| Frankarsgard | 7 | 4th | |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 5th | Taunt |
| Sturdy Axe Warden | 8 | 6th | |
| Total Mana: | 46 |
My summoner is Barthalamas for the +1 speed. My tank is Agniavan Salamander. After that is Spellmonger with thorns. Scales of Justice has dodge. After that are two melee monsters with one of them having taunt. Lastly, I have Sturdy Axe Warden as my only damage dealer at the start.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while my opponent kills himself. I only have one damage dealer, and I used it due to its damage. It should only damage my taunt monster. None of the my monsters can attack from their current position until some of my monsters die. It's about outlasting my opponent and then finishing them off.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage. My opponent has 4 monsters that can attack, and the collateral damage will be quite powerful. By the time my melee monsters move up, most of my opponent's lineup should be quite damaged.
Round 3

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just two monsters left and both have low health.

I won that match a few rounds later.
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly as planned. I saw the collateral damage, and felt that it was best to let my opponent kill himself. I like seeing this ruleset around because my win rate tends to be higher. It always pays to look at the ruleset, and take advantage of those rulesets.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Oh that's a tricky ruleset! Sometimes it's hard to balance the survive with the damage
Rulesets with reckless ability is always a challenge if one is not careful,in selection and positioning.I saw how you positioned your cards it was spot on 👍. Kudos
sometimes the best offense is a really stubborn defense.

It was a very chaotic game, but I think you got it because of that franksgard card with 8 health at the end
Congratulations on a overwhelming victory
It is a great line up and strategy to take advantage of the Collateral Damage ruleset
