Splinterlands: Great Bear Druid is great in Super Sneak

avatar

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because of Great Bear Druid.

Featured cards

Great Bear Druid is a neutral splinter that costs 9 mana. This card starts with the duo magic and melee damage. Leveling this card increases its melee damage and speed by 1. As this is a frontier card, it can only be upgraded once. This was my first legendary card in Frontier, and it was also the first card that I maxed. At level 2, it has an extra speed and attack so it is more powerful.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Deflection Shield and Super Sneak. This means that all monsters gain the sneak and deflect ability. There is also 38 mana available, and I can use fire, water, life, or dragon splinter.

This ruleset is interesting, but melee monsters will be targeting the back line if they are not up front. At the same time, you can't use a monster will thorns because the deflect will turn that counteer damage into zero.

My summoner is Marlai Singariel for the +1 magic. My tank is Asel Alagosdil with divine shield. After that is Great Bear Druid as my backup tank. I have Mystic Scaleweaver with slow, and 2 ranged damage dealers after that.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while my opponent kills himself. Spitting Camel was used as my last monster because it has high health and can tank quite a few hits from any sneak or melee monsters. Great Bear Druid has access to both melee and magic so it can deal up to 4 damage per round.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage. My Great Bear Druid is the fastest monster on the board, so I will be able to kill off one monster at the start. Other than that, I do have a slight level advantage so I don't think my opponent can focus down my lineup faster than me killing him.

Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just one monster, and this is my win. My monsters are faster than my opponeent so there is nothing my opponent can do at this point.

I won that match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle this time went exactly as planned. Great Bear Druid was such a great choice because of the super sneak ruleset. 4 damage per round is amongst the highest you can do in modern. I took advantage of this to finish off my opponent's backline, and there was nothing my opponent could do after that.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
