Splinterlands: Giam Root is great in Earthquake battles
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Giam Root.
Featured cards

Giam Root is an earth splinter that costs 9 mana. This card has strengthen to start. Leveling this card increases its attack. Since this is a foundational card, it can only go up to level 2.
This is a card that I like to use often in Foundational fights if the mana allows for it because of its high health. This means that the rest of my monsters can deal more damage before moving up to the frontmost spot.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Arcane Dampening and Earthquake. This means that monsters gain the void ability and nonflying monsters take 2 physical damage a turn. There is also 41 mana available, and I can use any splinter.
This ruleset is interesting because magic monsters are less effective, and most monsters will take damage every turn. So I think that dealing tons of damage or outlasting the opponent are both valid strategies.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurelia | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Dread Tafarian | 9 | 1st | Heal |
| Giam Root | 9 | 2nd | Strengthen |
| Kicking Roc | 8 | 3rd | |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 4th | Taunt |
| Total Mana: | 40 |
My summoner is Aurelia for the +1 health. My tank is Dread Tafarian with heal. My backup tank is Giam Root with strengthen. Kicking Roc is a damage dealer and New Beluroc Aegis has taunt.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. The taunt and heal are both ways to keep Giam Root healthy as I think it can survive quite long under the earthquake ruleset.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win. My opponent may have taunt, but by the time they deal with my tank and my taunt monster, Earthquake will have killed off most of the monsters.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just three monsters, and I am down to 2. However, the earthquake will drop both of us down to 1 monster each. My opponent can't deal enough damage to outlast me.

I won that match a few rounds later.
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly as planned. I played a lineup where I outlasted my opponent, and it ended up being the winning factor. My opponent may have had more damage, but that earthquake just killed off those damage dealers before they could turn the match around.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Lot of health and a health boost, what more one might want?
It's good because earthquake deals damage every turn. It's the perfect way to outlast your opponent.
I think it's suitable for earthquake because of the mana, it doesn't have other abilities though, and it didn't have heal as well, but great game and good win

Deploying cards with a huge amount of health is a good technique to win the match with the Earthquake ruleset present
The Strengthen is very effective on the match with earthquake
