Splinterlands: Flying monsters make Earthquake battles a breeze

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I saw a battle where I won because I used a good strategy.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Earthquake. This means all monsters take 2 physical damage per round if they do not have the flying ability. There is also 35 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for dragon.

This is an interesting fight because there aren't that many flying monsters, but they can be quite useful in a battle of endurance.

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Underboss Fabino5Summoner+2 melee attack or poison
Halfling Refugee11st
Pallus82ndFlying and Reach
Thanalorian Blade63rdExecute and opportunity
Halaran Huntress44thFlying and Charge
Fenmoor Wood Troll105thBlind and Wingbreak
Total Mana:34

My summoner is Underboss Fabino for the +2 melee attack. I have Halfling Refugee as my tank. Then I have Pallus as my backup tank with flying and reach. Thanalorian Blade is my third monster with opportunity and execute. I have Halaran Huntress with flying and charge, and Fenmoor Wood Troll in the last spot with blind and wingbreak.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I will be relying on my flying monsters to stay alive in this fight. Halfing was used because I wanted to make the most of my mana, and Fenmoor Wood Troll's wingbreak will target my opponent's flying monsters if they have any. Thanalorian Blade will attack the lowest health monster and hopefully kill off a few monsters for me before they can attack. My archon will increase the melee damage of my flying monsters to make them stronger as well.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match. My opponent doesn't have any flying monsters, so I will win in a battle of outlasting my opponent. The only issue is my luck in landing attacks because it can be rough if I keep missing.

Round 4

A few rounds later, I have lost one monster while my opponent is down to his last monster. The earthquake damage will wipe him out, so it is my win.

I won later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did not go exactly as planned. The flying monsters dealt quite a bit of damage, and they survived until the end. The rest of my lineup did their best to help me do damage, and they did their job well. My opponent suffered from the earthquake damage, and that damage added up over time.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

You were absolutely right on your choice of lineup. You paid attention to the ruleset, earthquake.Because you had two monsters with the earthquake ability. When the earthquake came you opponent was hit most. I had a post I am writing on,the ruleset was earthquake also, but the choice before me I could not get monsters with flying,so I choose Olivia of the Brook with her mimic ability, in the course of the battle she mimicked one of my opponents monster that has flying, and that was how I won that battle. Kudos to you warrior!

Mimic can be quite useful, but I think its a gamble because the mimicked ability is random.

It was a gamble indeed! 😂

If you lined up only melee cards, this might be a totally different outcome, but it's great to see that you added some magic cards and it actually made a massive difference too.

I think the enemy team relies on the armor to migitate the effect of the earthquake
