Splinterlands Engagement Challenge: Inaugural Land Card Edition!

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk about the new Inaugural Land Card Edition.

Inaugural Land Card Edition!

There is an announcement post for the new Inaugural Land Card Edition here, but it will focus on expanding land even further. Four years ago, land was released, and people were given the ability to buy over 100,000 pieces of land. Over time, they have expanded what people can do with land, and this newest addition only adds more things to what people can do with land. Specifically, they have released new units with land-related abilities created with existing land resources and a new resource created by burning cards.

Reward Cards

There are 4 cards: one common, one rare, one epic, and one legendary card available.

There are new cards, and each one has its own advantages.

The following abilities are available:

  • Bountiful: Provides a production bonus for worksites producing that resource.
  • Toil and Kin: Provides a production bonus if one of your workers has the matching Bloodline.
  • Dark Discount: Reduces the amount of DEC required to stake for the plot to reach 100% efficiency.
  • Energized: Acts as a replacement for a Power Core.
  • Rationing: Reduces the amount of grain consumed on plot harvest.
  • Labor's Luck: Chance of discovering a GF, GFA, BF, or BFA Land Card during plot harvest.

Depending on what you want to achieve, you will focus on a different card, and I like how they allow you to gamify everything. They are event aking advantage of the bloodlines released recently.

Crafting the cards

🧮 Estimated Crafting Costs

Rarity1 CC Resource1 CC Cinder1 CC Cost ($)Max Copy ResourceMax Copy CinderMax Cost ($)
Common20k Grain375$0.508M Grain150k$200
Rare30k Wood1875$2.503.45M Wood215,625$287.50
Epic7500 Aura / 15k Stone / 50k Grain5625$7.50345k Aura / 690k Stone / 2.3M Grain258,750$345
Legendary50k Aura / 40k Iron37,500$50550k Aura / 440k Iron412,500$550

Above is the cost for creating the cards from the announcement post listed above. It looks like people will need various resources to create each card. I like that they are using everything that land can produce to make the cards, and the cinders are also required. Cinders are received from burning cards with a DEC value. They do not apply to soulbound cards because those will still give Glint/Merits.

Conclusion and thoughts

I think Splinterlands has made a great change towards land and added more gamification. These changes will spur people to buy cards that match their respective bloodlines, and also give some use cases for some of the older cards. At the same time, all the resources that people have been collecting can be used. Some more than others, but overall, it adds more demand for people to get their land working. I don't have any plots so I don't think I will participate, but I love how they are just expanding on what they have. The demand for cards will only increase, and I think quite a few cards will be burned in the process of earning Cinder.

What do you think about the new Inaugural Land Card Edition?

I'm not into land but hopefully they will be a way to get rid of cards over supply

Yea. I am hoping that things like this will remove the card supply issues. It will remove cards slowly over time.

This challenge looks really interesting. Learning about the new land cards and their unique abilities makes the game even more fun and strategic. I definitely should participate.
