Brawl Report #45 - Going back to an average brawl

avatar

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. My battles have improved slightly compared to the all losses I got in the previous brawl.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern brawl and got 4 win and 3 losses. My rewards for the brawl were 3,556 merits and 33.302 SPS in the 3 star category. My guild ranked 4th place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. We did quite well even if my own results were not that great.

Brawl fights

There were 4 fights that I won and 3 that I loss. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

image.png
You can find the first match here. I lost this match and the use of a flying summoner gave my opponent a large advantage and My opponent focused on magic damage. So I didn't stand a chance at all in this match.

image.png
You can find the second match here. I lost this match because of my opponent's summoner again. Reducing my ranged damage definitely worked against me. At the same time, my opponent had a tanky monster up front and I didn't.

image.png
You can find the third match here. I won this match and it was a close match. I missed quite a few attacks due tot he speed difference but that enrage and bloodlust gave me the win.

image.png
You can find the fourth match here. I won this match and it worked out quite well for me to focusing down on a single monster. The tank heal definitely came in useful to keep my strongest damage dealer alive.

image.png
You can find the fifth match here. I got a lost and it was kind of rough. That Chaos Dragon took out my bloodlust monster and I couldn't do much against the large number of magic monsters.

image.png
You can find the sixth match here. I won this match and I won because I did more damage than my opponent. We both had a focus on melee monsters but I had a demoralize to decrease my opponent's attack.

image.png
You can find the seventh match here. I had a win and I won because of that demoralize and inspire combination. It reduced the damage that my opponent could do and I was able to take out the Oshanius before it could kill off my tank. With that, I was able to take out the rest of my opponent's monsters.

Conclusion

I think doing 7 fights for 3,556 merits and 33.302 SPS is a pretty good reward for the effort. Our guild recovered to an extent and I at least got 50% this time around. So I am happy with how this brawl went. 3 star brawls are just way too tough and the biggest handicap is my gold foil card levels. Brawls are a great way of earning SPS and merit for the number of battles you participate in. So I think it is worthwhile for people to participate in these brawls. My current brawls are in the three star category. I am just glad that I was able to stop my losing streak.

Brawls are a good way to get some extra rewards and the gladiators can be used with the reward summoners. So it gives you more options because there are some very powerful cards there too.
