Brawl Report #165: An average brawl

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches, and it was decent for me.

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 4 wins. This time, there was 1 free win because 1 guild did not submit someone to my brawl. My rewards for the brawl were 2,190 merits and 31.316 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 8th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots, and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I did around decent this time, but my guild didn't do so great.

Brawl fights

There were 4 that I lost, 1 won due to surrender, and 2 that I won. So, I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

image.png
You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. The level disadvantage was too much to overcome, and I had a hard time killing off my opponent's tanks.

image.png
You can find the second match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. My opponent had the level advantage, but the burn ended up destroying his lineup. I was just able to outlast my opponent.

image.png
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. My opponent's summoner decreased my damage, and the level advantage made it so my opponent had way more damage than me.

image.png
You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I was limited in my choices and my opponent just did a better job of using up his mana.

image.png
You can find the fifth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. I wasn't expecting to give given the level disadvantage, but my repair and healer did a good job of keeping my monsters alive until I could win.

image.png
You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I couldn't do much against those bloodlust monsters. My backline got wrecked.

Conclusion

Doing 8 fights for 2,190 merits and 31.316 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I did decently this time, but my guild didn't do so great. At least we got more SPS and merits this time around though.

I really liked your analysis of Guild Brawl. It was very informative to explain the reasons for winning and losing separately, especially the impact of level advantage and lineup choice. Your consistent stance and actions are helping the guild move forward. Thank you for discussing such an important topic with us and sharing your experiences.

As for me I followed your trick and placed inactive people to fill frays and it went way better than usual with the freewins

Even if the guild didn’t rank high, the merits and SPS stack up so that's a silver lining at least. Wish you best of luck on next game

It's decent, but the rewards are low due to inactive players.

I wanted to get back into splinterlands but my main motive is to make money, not really the entertainment part. What do you say about this?

I think it would be hard right now to earn a lot of money. Splinterland assets have been on a downturn, but I don't think its a bad idea to just participate in Guild Brawls because losing would still net you SPS if you submit all your matches. They changed quite a bit and the rewards are soulbound so you can't sell the reward cards. You can only earn off things like SPS.
