Brawl Report #144: Losing all my fights but free wins made it a decent result

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and it was decent this time around. I got wrecked in my actual fights, but the free wins made me get an even number of wins and losses.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 4 wins. This time, there were 1 free wins because two guilds didn't submit a person for my brawl. My rewards for the brawl were 4,857 merits and 70.251 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 6th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots, and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. My guild did better than last time, but my results were about average.

Brawl fights

There were 4 that I lost, and 3 won due to surrender. So, I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. There wasn't much I could do against all those magic monsters, and his summoner also increased the magic damage. On top of that, the taunt monster in the back just soaked up all my attacks.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. Captain Katie wrecked me as it took out one of my damage dealers before it could help me much. I was planning to outlast my opponent, but Captain Katie was just too powerful.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match because I missed so many attacks. My opponent just overwhelmed me with damage. I couldn't do much when my backline got wiped out early, and his tank kept healing every single turn.

You can find the fourth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. I was hoping to outlast my opponent, but my opponent had the level advantage and damage advantage. He used his armor to field lower mana cards and let them survive an extra round.

Conclusion

Doing 8 fights for 4,857 merits and 70.251 SPS is a good reward for the effort. It's too bad that I didn't win any matches, but I'll just have to see if I have better luck next time. I still think it was a decent brawl after you consider the free wins.
