Brawl Report #116: Always make sure to submit your matches for those free wins
Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and I did well this time around. There were more fights this time around, but I still think the free wins carried the brawl for me.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 5 wins. There were 1 free win in this match because one guild didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 4,952 merits and 63.542 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 4th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. The rewards weren't as great as last time, but I still think it's better than my average brawl reward.
Brawl fights
There were 4 that I lost, 1 that I won, and three that I won because my opponent surrendered. So I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The combination of Lir for return fire and headwinds to reduce my damage removed any chance of me winning. I just couldn't do much damage at all in this range-only match.
You can find the second match here. I lost this match because of the scavenger monster combined with weapons training. The damage just added over time and I couldn't kill that last monster fast enough.
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. My opponent used a lot of low mana monsters and I did not. They also had a speed advantage and those sneak monsters wiped out my backline without me having much of a chance.
You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The speed advantage from my opponent was too much for me to overcome and the combination of a tank heal plus repair made it hard to kill off my opponent's monsters.
You can find the fifth match here. I won this match because I had that range monster with snipe and a amplify monster. This allowed me to take out the strongest monster in my opponent's lineup without it getting martyr.
Conclusion
Doing 9 fights for 4,952 merits and 63.542 SPS is a good reward for the effort. It wasn't as great as the last brawl, but getting so many free wins is great. I also managed to win one of my actual fights so I am happy that I am able to win some fights with the right lineup. It's hard to win fights when you are at a level disadvantage.

You were close in the second game, but the scavenge and the weapon's training made sure you'd lose. Overall I think you did well, considering the fact that you were fortunate to have 3 free wins by flee
Yea. It was a close match and you can't hate those free wins. Just make sure to submit a lineup even if you don't think it's good.
That's true, the other person might just fail to submit their and you'll just get lucky.

The tank on first position on first match basically won it
Headwinds, shield plus return fire makes it quite deadly. I couldn't do much.
