Fondness and Things

Friday here and the weather has gotten a little better. Egay finally left and given us a much needed breather. People are now going out and around for ocular inspection.


Our sky today, we're being blanketed by fog.

The extent of the destruction may start to sink in soon. Our power line is still out. Major electrical posts have been swept down by the strong winds. One had been struck by a fallen tree some 100 meters or so away from our house and the wires are hanging loose above our yard. It may take a while for these to get fixed so we expect that we won't be having our electricity back anytime sooner.

I'm yet to go out but I heard our roads need clearing, our water source was damaged too. Crops of most farmers ravaged which may result to higher costs of veggies in the market for a prolonged period of time. The list goes on. It would be long if I even attempt to write them down and would still miss to mention a lot.

The good thing is that no matter what just happened, life goes on...

Pretty soon, people will start building once more. If there is one thing I observed over here is that most are resourceful in their own way and do not wait nor rely on the public office for things to move. We appreciate any help given but the truth is, most times, the government takes forever to act. But I do hope it would be different this time around.



Anyhow, on a lighter and brighter side of things, I had a bit of fun while visiting my in-law some time ago. I was going after the husband who invited me for a walk around M's crops when a few things on the way got my attention and became subject of a wee photoshoot.

These were random shots by the way. Nothing like those photos taken by seasoned photographers. It was just me pointing at things and getting clicks of them.

This tiny ant for instance was seen and captured on camera as I walked towards the bananas by the edge of the old man's property. These tiny creatures fascinate me and most times when we ain't rushing, I'd spent moments watching them.



I reached the banana trees which were fruiting and this one was obviously heavy for the trunk to carry, it bowed and bent almost close to the ground.

On our last visit, papa mentioned he harvested that bunch and he spent some time cleaning the other one. When he turned around, he found out that the banana fruits were gone from where he placed them. "Did someone come and took them without a word?" He shared of his thoughts being puzzled.



I was curious to know what happened. My father-in-law has this way of narrating stories that it makes you feel anxious waiting for the continuation. I realized the Farmboy got the trait from his old man.

It turned out, the bananas rolled and fell down the next slope without him noticing it, lol! So we teased him saying he seems to have thought a ghost may have played with him.😅

Funny huh! You bet we shared a loud roar afterwards.

This aquarium on the other hand was photographed in the city earlier this month. We were at the appliance section trying to find some stuff when we passed by this display and I could not resist taking a snap.



We never had any aquarium in my house, nor my parents had one when we were growing up. For a moment while standing there, I imagined taking one home but then the lazy side of me said no, lol! And that's also because I don't really like fishy smell.

And so off we went to the fridge section which I'll probably share on another day.

Better act soon than waiting for the government to act.. You're right, it will take forever haha... At least, bayanihan still exist in our country in times of crisis like this.. Glad the typhoon is out now.. I hope it will just fade in the air and won't cause any havoc again in other parts of Asia.. Hopefully not here in HK...

Yes, sis. That's one thing we are proud of here in the country. May bayanihan pa rin. Hoping Egay melted away and not go anywhere else. There's another typhoon, Falcon. Hope it stays in the Pacific Ocean and won't land anywhere. Keep safe ❤

I also don't like the fish smell but i love to eat fish lol 😆 yes you're right that aquarium needs attention and time and we're lazy 😂

I'm so sorry to hear about these destructions. It is true that the government usually takes forever to act so I'm glad your community is a "let's pick up the pieces" and move on type."

My mother has an aquarium and for a longggg time. I think even when we were kids. It changed a few times. The fish too over time, many times.
I wouldn’t get one, it’s a lot of hassle.

Disasters like this don't seem to bother you, maintaining a good attitude help keeps things in perspective and allows you to clearly think on your next step. A good thing since there will always be those around you who would look to you for assurance.

Every time typhoon creates huge damage. And it's a natural things and nobody can control it also. Everything will be fine except some family who damaged greatly because of it.
You have taken some very good shots and I think you are finding positivity even if the situation in not to good till now. It's good for you.

That's very true, Inti. We went out yesterday and the main roads are yet to be cleared and damages are still to be accounted for. We also learned that there were 4 casualties in town due to landslides. It's saddening.

Wow, it looks like I have missed out on a lot of things. It's good to know that you are safe and truly, humans always find a way to rebuild after things like this happens.

The picture are great, how are you coping with powering heavy appliances????

Thank you, George. And very true, people will always find a way to rebuild.

Most of our appliances are now unplugged. We purchased a generator but I could not stand the noise so we only switch it on for a short while each day. It's tough to be without power.

I'm super thankful that the typhoon qas out of the Philippines already. Streets were flooding here in Bacolod during those rainy days, and I even got a flu from the bad weather. Anyway, all is well now. We can now live like before, and recovering.

I'm so sorry to hear about the damage caused by Typhoon Egay. It sounds like a lot of people have been affected, and it's great that you're able to find some humor in the situation.

I love your photos of the banana tree and the aquarium. The banana tree is so full of bananas, and it's funny to imagine how they rolled down the slope without anyone noticing. The aquarium is beautiful, and I can see why you were tempted to take one home.
