Hi community!

The presidential candidate presented a "cross-party movement" at an event that brought together a thousand people at Fira de Barcelona: "Barça has two paths ahead and only one is correct"

Víctor Font gathered around a thousand people at the Fira de Barcelona, according to the organizers, all of them Barcelona fans concerned about the club's future. It was, of course, an electioneering event, attended by club legends like Xavi Hernández, accompanied by former player Gabri, along with business leaders from the Catalan economy, such as Manel Arroyo of Dorna, and groups like Seguiment FCB, Suma Barça, Dignitat Blaugrana, and, naturally, Sí al Futur, which was, in a way, the driving force behind the event.

Also present were people from the world of sports, like Xavi, such as Carles Planchart, Jordi Roura, Francesc Cos, and Miquel Àngel Cos. Ramon Alfonseda, Pierre Oriola, Joan Vilà… Many people connected in one way or another to the Blaugrana club were in attendance.

In total, around a thousand people gathered to welcome a “cross-cutting movement,” as they want to define the initiative, under the name ‘Nosaltres Barça’ (We Barça), which replaces ‘El Barça que volem’ (The Barça We Want). Undoubtedly, the big news was the presence of Xavi Hernández, who remained discreetly in the background, but whose presence is noteworthy as it is the first time he has attended a clearly campaign-related event.

All those present stood around him on a small stage, and he, microphone in hand, distributed speaking turns. Jaume Guardiola, former president of Barça's Economic Commission under Joan Laporta, asked, “Why does Barça need to pay a commission for everything? It's outrageous. We have the right to know what is being done and with whom,” he complained.

Albert Yarza, president of Almogàvers, advocated for the supporters' section: "An appropriate number, extrapolating from the Palau Blaugrana, would be around 5,000," a figure far removed from the 1,247 the club currently plans for the Spotify Camp Nou.

Víctor Font was the last to speak: “I’m excited to place myself in the hands of a group of organizations that is embarking on a new path, a new project that goes far beyond Víctor Font’s own project. We’ve all reached the same conclusion: Barça has two paths ahead, and only one is the right one. The first is the path of personalism, improvisation, and self-promotion—sometimes amusing, sometimes shameful. It’s about me and only me. It’s the path of friends, acquaintances, and those who are simply greeted, who are considered traitors if they criticize; it’s the path of self-deception that distances us from excellence and, worst of all, from the members. There is another path, the path of those who listen and plan and have nothing to hide. It’s the path of respect, honesty, and hard work, which doesn’t rely solely on the ball going in. It’s the path that begins today, the path for all of us.”

And then came the family photo, a group picture meant to demonstrate that the project is serious and that the starting gun has been fired for elections that, admittedly, have not yet been set. Víctor Font ended the event clutching a large flag with the Catalan flag ('senyera') and the Barça colors, declaring, "When Barça is unstoppable, Catalonia and Barça are unstoppable. Long live Barça and long live Catalonia!"
