Three years since Lewandowski signed for Barça.
Hi community!
The Polish star arrived in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich, a move that broke the market for Barcelona.
Three years ago today, FC Barcelona shocked the football world with one of the most surprising signings in recent years. Robert Lewandowski arrived at the Catalan club as one of the best number 9s of the last two decades. The club's management paid a total of €45 million for a three-year contract with an optional contract.
The Warsaw native arrived as the cornerstone of the Barça sporting project, with Laporta deciding to invest in him as the team's main media figure. So far, the striker's record at Barça has been more than positive, scoring in double figures during his last three seasons at Barcelona and being instrumental in key moments.
In his first season, 22/23, he played 46 matches and scored 33 goals in all competitions: 23 in La Liga, 5 in the Champions League, 2 in the Copa del Rey, 2 in the Spanish Super Cup, and 1 in the Europa League. It's worth noting that his 23 La Liga goals were enough to win him the "pichichi" trophy. He was key to the team's domestic title and Spanish Super Cup.
In his second season as a Barça player, he played a total of 49 matches in all competitions, scoring 26 goals, a slight drop from the previous year. He scored 19 goals in La Liga, 2 in the Copa del Rey, 3 in the Champions League, and 2 in the Spanish Super Cup. He also provided nine assists. However, his numbers weren't enough for Barça to win a single title.
In his last season in Barcelona, the Pole played 52 matches, scoring 42 goals. This was his best record as a Barça player. He scored a total of 27 goals in La Liga, 11 in the Champions League, 3 in the Copa del Rey, and 1 in the Spanish Super Cup. His performances were essential in helping Flick's team win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. However, an unexpected injury kept him out of the most important moment of the year, missing the Champions League semi-finals against Inter Milan, although he returned in the final minutes of the second leg, and the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.
Lewandowski will look to continue building his legacy at FC Barcelona during the upcoming campaign, which is expected to be the legendary striker's last at the club.
