(EN/DE) Time for spending rewards - 5 * 200 € for international organisations

Es hat sich etwas angesammelt
Es wurde ruhig rund um @hive.helps. Im Oktober habe ich es zwar geschafft, mal ein Update zum "Kontostand" zu geben. Die letzte Spende erfolgte allerdings im Juli.
Der ein oder andere mag gedacht haben, dass ich das Geld schön eingesammelt habe und mich jetzt damit in die Sonne lege.
Weit gefehlt. Heute habe ich die fehlenden Spenden seit July nachgeholt. Seit Juni hatten sich etwas mehr als 850 HBD angesammelt. Um zu einer runden Summe zu kommen, habe ich insgesamt 1.000 € also 5*200 € gespendet. Wie bisher habe ich dafür nichts aus dem Account entnommen. Dieser soll weiter wachsen, um die Spenden dann in Zukunft tragen zu können.
Ausgesucht habe ich 5 Organisationen die außerhalb von Deutschland tätig sind. Die meisten international, eine nur an einem Standort, aber mit einem großartigen Projekt.
Something has accumulated
Things have been quiet around @hive.helps. In October, I managed to provide an update on the “account balance.” However, the last donation was made in July.
Some of you may have thought that I had collected the money and was now lying in the sun with it.
Far from it. Today, I made up for the missing donations since July. Since June, a little over 850 HBD had accumulated. To make it a round amount, I donated a total of €1,000, i.e. 5*€200. As before, I did not withdraw anything from the account. This is to allow it to continue to grow so that it can cover donations in the future.
I selected five organizations that operate outside Germany. Most of them are international, one is based in only one location, but has a great project.

medica mondiale kämpft weltweit für die REchte von Frauen, gegen (sexualisierte) Gewalt und für die Bildung von Mädchen und Frauen.
In vielen Ländern ist das immer noch ein sehr großes Problem - selbst in Deutschland.
Ich kam zu diesem Verein über eine Bekannte, die leider viel zu früh verstarb. Statt Blumen wünschte sie sich damals Spenden an diese Organisation. Neben ihrem Engagement als Referentin und Gewerkschafterin machte dies Gerda für mich unvergesslich.

medica mondiale fights worldwide for women's rights, against (sexualized) violence, and for the education of girls and women.
In many countries, this is still a very big problem—even in Germany.
I came to this association through an acquaintance who sadly passed away far too early. Instead of flowers, she asked for donations to this organization. In addition to her commitment as a speaker and trade unionist, this made Gerda unforgettable to me.

Ärzte ohne Grenzen e.V.
Wer kennt sie nicht. Die furchtlosen Ärzte, die immer dort sind, wo es gerade am gefährlichsten ist. Sei es in Kriegs- oder Krisengebieten.
Wo andere rausgehen, oder es keine Möglichkeit zur Versorgung aus eigener Kraft vor Ort gibt, engagieren sich die Ärzte ohne Grenzen. Nicht selten auch mit Lobbyarbeit.
Ich hatte selbst schon das Vergnügen mit Mitgliedern von Ärzte ohne Grenzen vor dem DGB Bundesvorstand zu diskutieren. Damals ging es um den Zugang zu Impfstoffen, Patenten und ähnlichen Dingen. Wie bekommen wir es hin, dass auf der einen Seite Gewinne erzielt werden können und damit Forschung finanziert wird und gleichzeitig auch die Ärmsten der Armen davon profitieren und nicht aufgrund eines überzogenen Gewinnstrebens zu kurz kommen.
Der Diskurs damals hat mich sehr beieindruckt. So dass ich Ärzte ohne Grenzen immer mal wieder mit einer Spende bedenke.

Doctors Without Borders
Who doesn't know them? The fearless doctors who are always there where it's most dangerous, whether in war zones or crisis areas.
Where others leave, or where there is no possibility of providing care on their own, Doctors Without Borders steps in. Often, this involves lobbying.
I myself have had the pleasure of discussing issues with members of Doctors Without Borders before the DGB Federal Executive Board. At the time, the discussion focused on access to vaccines, patents, and similar issues. How can we ensure that profits can be made to finance research while at the same time ensuring that the poorest of the poor benefit and are not left behind due to excessive profit-seeking?
I was very impressed by the discourse at the time. So much so that I regularly make donations to Doctors Without Borders.

SOS Kinderdörfer e.V.
So wie medica mondiale sich für Frauen einsetzt, so kümmern sich die SOS Kinderdörfer um Kinder und ihre Familien in Not.
Wahrscheinlich sind die SOS Kinderdörfer eine der bekanntesten Organisationen überhaupt, wenn es um die Hilfe für Kinder geht. Neben der direkten Hilfe, kümmern sich die SOS Kinderdörfer um Bildung, Zugang zu Gesundheitsfürsorge und machen Lobbyarbeit.
Die SOS Kinderdörfer setzen sich ebenfalls für Klima- und Naturschutz ein, da die Zerstörung der Ökosysteme vor Ort und global ein Grund für die schlechten Bedingungen ist, die Kinder in ihrer jeweiligen Heimat vorfinden.

SOS Children's Villages
Just as medica mondiale advocates for women, SOS Children's Villages cares for children and their families in need.
SOS Children's Villages is probably one of the best-known organizations when it comes to helping children. In addition to providing direct assistance, SOS Children's Villages focuses on education, access to healthcare, and lobbying.
SOS Children's Villages is also committed to climate and nature conservation, as the destruction of local and global ecosystems is one of the reasons for the poor conditions that children face in their respective homelands.

Taking Hands Deutschland-Namibia e.V.
Taking Hands war eine der ersten Organisationen, die @hive.helps in 2024 unterstützt hat. Es ging um den Bau einer Schule in Namibia. Noch 2024 wurde die Schule eingeweiht und sie erfreut sich vieler Schüler.
Der Verein geht auf eine lokale Initiative aus Hohenpeißenberg einem Ort in Nordrheinwestfalen zurück. Hier gibt es keine großen Budgets. Jeder Euro fließt direkt in das Educational Center in Namibia.

Taking Hands Deutschland-Namibia e.V.
Taking Hands was one of the first organizations to support @hive.helps in 2024. The goal was to build a school in Namibia. The school was inaugurated in 2024 and is now enjoyed by many students.
The association originated from a local initiative in Hohenpeißenberg, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia. There are no large budgets here. Every euro goes directly to the Educational Center in Namibia.

@edina76 hatte mich per Memo darum gebeten, etwas für Vereine zu tun, die sich gegen Waldbrände engagieren.
Gar nicht so einfach. Die Feuerwehr löscht, aber viel besser wäre es doch, einen Verein zu unterstützen, der Prävention betreibt.
Der WWF ist ein solcher Verein. Natürlich geht es beim WWF hauptsächlich um den generellen Schutz der Tierwelt. Aber der WWF setzt sich insbesondere für Aufklärung rund um das Thema Waldbrandgefahren und eben für die Prävention ein. Unter anderem gibt es einen regelmäßigen Waldbrandbericht, mit Vorschlägen zur Verbesserung der Situation.
Auch engagiert sich der WWF mit Projekten vor Ort.

@edina76 sent me a memo asking me to do something for organizations that are committed to fighting forest fires.
Not so easy. The fire department extinguishes fires, but it would be much better to support an organization that focuses on prevention.
The WWF is one such organization. Of course, the WWF is mainly concerned with the general protection of wildlife. But the WWF is particularly committed to raising awareness about the dangers of forest fires and, of course, to prevention. Among other things, it publishes a regular forest fire report with suggestions for improving the situation.
The WWF is also involved in local projects.
