Hey folks.

When you hover the cursor of your mouse over link without clicking on it, the URL associated with that link will be displayed by several web browsers in the bottom corner of the window or in a tooltip.

This is something allowing you to see the original web address that the link will take you if you were to click on it.

Previewing the link before clicking, you can assess quickly whether is link is potentially harmful or trustworthy.

Malicious actors occasionally show a different URL than the one to which a link actually leads in order to conceal its true destination.

You can verify whether the URL displayed corresponds with the link text by hovering over the link. It's a warning sign that the link might be bogus if they don't match.

Often times phishing scams use URLs that are similar to the legitimate sites but rather contain unusual characters or subtle misspellings.

Make sure that the domain name in the URL is not fake and it is actually the website you want to visit.

HTTPS encryption often is used by legit websites in order to secure data transmitted between your browser and the server of the website.

One way to safeguard oneself against online threats such as virus infections and phishing assaults is to preview URLs before clicking on them. It's an easy approach to keep yourself safe when visiting the internet.
