Traped into a fraud... story from past...

Fraudulent individuals can be found everywhere, and some are so skilled that it becomes difficult to distinguish between what is real and what is fake.

I would like to share two personal stories, one from the real world.

Let's begin with my experience in real life. Six years ago, when I lived in the western part of the country, my wife and I were passionate about traveling and exploring different places across the country. One day, I received a call from a representative of XYZ Company. The conversation started with inquiries about our travel habits and love for discovering new locations. Eventually, the conversation shifted to an offer. The representative informed me that my name had been selected in a draw and that they were inviting me and my wife to visit their office for a presentation. The presentation was about a holiday plan they were offering, and they promised gifts for attending. The representative assured us that there would be no obligation to join the plan, and if we didn't like it, we could simply leave with the gifts without any questions asked.

Normally, I wouldn't entertain such calls, but the allure of free gifts tempted me to give it a chance.

The presentation was scheduled for a Sunday, and both my wife and I were free. We arrived at their office around 11 am and were greeted by someone at the reception who instructed us to wait. As we sat in the waiting area, another person approached us and introduced himself as a sales executive. He escorted us to a hall where there were several round tables, all occupied by families and their respective sales executives. Each sales executive was explaining the plans and attempting to persuade the attendees to make a purchase. Interestingly, the sales executive assigned to us was from North India, just like us. I suspected that this was a deliberate move to make us feel more comfortable and confident in moving forward with the plan.

The sales executive initiated the conversation by asking a few basic questions such as our place of origin, the size of our family, and how frequently we go on vacations. One question they posed caught me off guard - they inquired about who made decisions in our family. Since we were a two-person household living away from our hometown, I responded that we both made decisions together. It seemed to me that they deliberately asked this question with the intention of provoking me later if necessary, in case my wife expressed hesitancy towards purchasing a plan.

The plan they offer us includes one week holiday plan per year for next ten years. The plan includes the hotel expenses only. As per the sales executive they have tie up with different properties across the country and out of country. If I will purchase plan they they will arrange the stay in those properties but I have to inform in advance as they have limited rooms only. They also told that initially the booking will be on mail but they are working on the online portal also that means the user will be able to do the booking by their own. They shown us a booklet which has the details of all the properties they tie up with. When I was going through the booklet one page took my attention, that is Palace on Wheel - which is luxury train. The compartment with king size bed, a joint washroom, you will feel like a king and compartment is your kingdom. I wish to be on that train from long time. It seems like my wish comes true. They offer the plan for 10 year, which cost 100k rupee. I thought if I will get the Palace on wheel included in the package them all my investment will be recovered. My wife was hesitated but I was only seeing my wish.
Finally we purchased the plan or I will say we traded. After few weeks I tried to book a hotel but no reply of my mail. I tried the customer care but no good response from them. I written another mail but still not any reply. I check their office but they told that the hotel booking on my provided dates were not possible as they were already booked. After some time I tried again with new dates but the response was same. I went to their office but to my surprise they were closed. After enquiry from nearby I come to know that they left permanently closed the office. At that moment I understand that my money has gone and they Company was a fraud.
