My Political Contest

You know this saying "As you pass through school, allow school to pass through you too. Well I decided to try it by contesting in my department as secretary. At first when I joined school, I had very little concern about any activity in school, especially politics. To be sincere about how bad politics has become, I don't want to involve myself. I just wanted to study, get a good result and leave the school. I was even appointed to be chosen as the course representative of my level and department but I turned it down. Well I heard how stressful it is.

With time I realized that school is more than just studying. I had to change mentally.
It's here you build your tomorrow and your future through connections. At the second thought I decided to give myself a little into politics. With the help of some of my friends who also helped me with their words of encouragement. I really did some consultation. That means knowing the probability of winning and knowing your opponent. I wasn't the social type of I have a good relationship with all my course mates and lecturers. I have in no day fought or exchanged words with them. So yeah I got their support.

When it was time, I found out I had a second contestant from a different level but the same department. It was a challenging one but I wasn't scared. When the form was out it was sold for $10(10,000). Getting the form became an issue as I didn't have money to form. I just posted on my Whatsapp status about my intention and I needed money. My elder sister replied to me and asked how much. When I told her, she said she will give me the money. I was very happy.
That was another sign that God wanted me to contest. The next day she gave me the money and I bought the form.

The rule was that you can't campaign till you pick your form. So after picking the form I started the full time campaign by telling other levels in my department. The good thing is that I had friends of all levels and it made it easier. Those periods were so stressful that I missed some classes. That's how I know the stress politicians go through.

The election contest was between me and a boy but on a different level. The day of the election drew fear and I didn't know I had that confidence I was going to win because the majority of the vote was on my side. This means you will have to tick who you want.
That day we had class and even a test so it made all my course mates come out because they heard it was a test. It was if God was working for my good 😂. I already got the vote of all my course mates and majority from the other level that made me the winner.

Another reason was that I was higher than my opponent in level so it wasn't right for a lower level person to lead. The president and secretary and vital positions should be held by seniors. But since it was an election , anyone had the right to vote and be voted for.
It was a thing of joy winning and that gave me leadership responsibility and made me see life in another aspect. It was really fun serving the department because many persons say girls don't like politics

It shows women are paving the way in politics in school and society. Many lecturers were happy with me and that even made me more popular in school.
