Not My Addiction Anymore// LOH Contest #296.
A big congratulations to you if you are reading this, for crossing over to the second half of the year, infact the first half of the year felt like it wasn't moving or it wasn't going to finish but then holala we are here and just before you blink your eyes we would be at the edge of this year so just an encouragement to you that what ever you were doing just keep it on because we are almost there, and with that small intro I would like to start with the first prompt for this week.
That one thing I have unlearned in the first half of the year 2026 is not just any habit or character but then it was a whole human being for me, it took a lot of balls to unlearn a whole human being but I atleast tried and when I say unlearn a human being I meant detach from that person and I would definitely tell you why I did it plus how it has improved my life so far. I just feel like there's this one person either same gender or the opposite gender that we as human beings get used to, some people call it besties, some call it friends but what so ever you choose to name that ship I just know that such person seems to be your safe space, that one person that can calm you down, like that one person that have this big effect on you in such a way that others don't, yeah yeah I think I had that one person too and for me it was an opposite gender.
We were really close that you would think we were dating, throughout the years I naturally got drawn to this person that made me started building even my future with him in it, Without him even showing interest in pursuing in that direction, but then I noticed that I had already gotten to use to talking with him that going a day without talking to him felt abnormal, I saw it as an unhealthy addiction so during the first half of the year i did something I never thought I could do.
Normally I thought I couldn't survive it but right now am doing more than just okay, I decided to reduce my attachment to him so as to not get hurt later in the future just by mere expectations, I had to start unlearning how to survive without him, it was hard actually coz sometimes I would feel tempted to just put a video call through or just a voice call but then I realize I am in a training field and it takes alot to survive, so for my peace, for sanity, for less thinking, for been in the safer spot I just had to unlearn this one, so this is me cheesing 🥂 to people who would boldly choose me and not just wait for me to ask for it.

Oh dear, this reminded me of a friend long ago that built up a big expectation in a similar quasi-relationship only to set herself up to become hugely disappointed when they broke up. She should have cut her loses earlier but continued in denial. I haven't talked to her for a long time but i get the feeling that she has yet to get over it.

Haha I thought the year ran so fast, it feels different to know that you don't think so.
But then, your story says a lot why it's been like that for you. I'm glad you've unlearned him out of your plans, your peace should always be paramount.
