Cryptocurrency Needs More Women
An event occurred to me yesterday that made me realize how powerful a tool women can be if we get dominated in the crypto space like the male folks are today, I happened to be in a public vehicle on my way to another state from my state of residence when we got halted by the policemen, and two young men, were called out of all passengers sitted for a search, we were more of young women in the bus, while the other men were much older, I'm guessing that was the reason they were not called out. Back to these young men, without telling them the reason for calling them out, the policemen demanded to see their phones, I felt uneasy watching this event unfold, after going through their phones, with no luck seeing what they were searching for, they freed them and let us continue our journey, as expected, we the commuters felt offended that they wasted our time, so we inquired from the guys what they were searching for, and they replied crypto-related apps, my eyes opened in shock, I was alarmed, now the thing is, men, are mostly the victim of this ungodly search, so they were already used to it, and have a way of hiding apps like Binance and other crypto apps on their phones from the prying eyes of the police who were against all crypto enthusiast, because cryptocurrency is still banned in our country, what if they were caught, they would have been fined a huge amount of money to bail themselves out for making transactions using cryptocurrency.

While this event was unfolding, I had one thought in mind, Women, I've never for once been stopped and searched, and neither have I seen a fellow woman go through such before, why? because in my part of the world, cryptocurrency is seen as a male-dominated world, which is also a fact, not neglecting that we also have women in crypto, but the ratio of men to women in the crypto world is a huge gap, which made me realize that women power is the tool we need to announce cryptocurrency and make it acceptable to the world, make the beauty of cryptocurrency be seen by those ignorant of it. The world of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology has been dominated by men for far too long, even though there has been massive growth, it is time to recognize the importance of gender diversity in the crypto space and advocate for increased participation of women. In this article, I will be highlighting some benefits/ important roles women can play in cryptocurrency.
1 Women are talented in Social Media Marketing, Crypto can benefit from this
Web 2 has already been populated by both men and women, and we've seen women make use of Web 2 for influencing, marketing, reviews, and a whole lot of others, as well, women are known to be better when it comes to marketing what they believe in because when they communicate with you, they try to build a long-lasting connection, we need this talent in web 3. Who is more likely to buy a product and review it online? It's the women, when women become populated in web3, there is a high chance of community growth because they have an innate natural focus on connection and relation, they don't just get onboarded alone, they make sure to bring others along.

2. Women have better Communication skills.
Who says women likes talking? Smiles, no doubt about that, we do, this is often because when we communicate, our emotions are connected, trying to read others' body language, and their state of mind also with empathy, we are better listeners, we don't just want to talk to you, we want to hear from you too.
Communication is a vital role needed to build a community and keep it afloat. Same as Cryptocurrency, the concept of cryptocurrency can be very confusing if it is not explained well with lots of patience. The more reason we need women, the men are not so generous when it comes to being patient and communicating, women can change that, we have the natural ability to present crypto information in a way that the public can connect with and understand.
3. Women can be more Financially independent
Gone are those days when women were to solely depend on a man for all their wants, crypto currency has created an avenue for women to gain financial independence, even for stay-at-home mum. Women are known to be better savers hence hodlers, imagine having lots of these hodlers who believe in the future of crypto and the token they hold, which equals more massive growth in the crypto space, hence they are better investors. This, women become more empowered and take control of their financial future.
4 Reducing Gender Bias
Imagine the scenario I witnessed yesterday If more women adopt Web 3, the gender discrimination and harassment faced by the young men in my country may become lesser, since women are mostly treated with care, and looked upon as tender, not criminal, what happens when the ration of men to women becomes 50:50, they have no option than to eradicate the discrimination on guys and even unban crypto. This can lead to safer and more equitable workspaces for everyone involved.
5 Expanding the User Base
Cryptocurrencies have already proven to change the face of traditional finance and offer financial freedom to people around the world. To achieve this, cryptocurrency needs to reach a wider and diverse audience, and women are even more populated in most countries, increasing the number of women involved in the crypto space can bridge the gender gap and reach a broader user base, making cryptocurrency more accessible to everyone.
6 Become a source of inspiration Women
Representation is a powerful tool for inspiring and encouraging others to participate in an industry. I for instance got very motivated when I newly joined Hive, seeing fellow women doing well for themselves on the blockchain, all of the doubts I had about myself diffused into hard work and consistency, and here I am still in this journey, also becoming a source of inspiration to others. When women see other women succeeding in the crypto space, it becomes a source of motivation and encouragement. This can help more women feel more relaxed and not look down on themselves, leveling the male-to-female ratio and encouraging greater gender diversity.
The crypto space is transforming rapidly, and it's crucial to ensure that this transformation is inclusive to all, to achieve this, it is important that more women become a part of the crypto industry, both as developers and as users, bringing their unique insights, skills, and experience to bring growth to the world of cryptocurrency. Also, makes them more financially independent. Women power can make cryptocurrency welcoming to all.

It's very pitiful and I think the government gives no right to policemen to check people's phones.
I do not totally agree with the term although I am not denying the qualities you mentioned because those are right and logical. I am saying the reason.
By the way, I am not against women's empowerment. In fact, I also want it but in the case of crypto I feel men and women are the same and we are human and we need more humans. Women are not restricted to joining crypto and everyone has a device and internet and it's the choice of the individual doesn't matter if they are male of female.
Hehe, I said a lot of things. I am eagerly waiting for a reply and I hope I will be able to know more about your thoughts. I just shared my opinion. So, don't take it personally. hehe.
That is what we face living in a country like mine, as long as they've got the arm, they got power
I understand your point of view and I am not against gender equality either, I just stated the reality based on my experience and the world around me, Nigeria as a country for instance, the ratio of men in crypto to women is about 90:10, so you can see the huge difference why this post is focused on the women.
I agree everyone has something to offer whether male or female, the men are already dominant and doing exceedingly well, we need more women, African specifically, to come on board as well, because I believe they have much to offer.
Yes, we are all humans, and more humans are needed in the crypto space.
Thank you @intishar for your contribution.
I also understood your point of view😅.
What an interesting post! I was very surprised to hear that cryptocurrency is banned in your country. What a shame. But I suppose the beauty of this technology is that cryptocurrency can still be used despite banning. I totally agree with you that more women in the crypto-sphere would be nice. On Hive there are much more women involved, which is great! but, in my day to day life I am the only woman I know involved and all the rest are men. Cousins, friends of friends, they are all nice humans but I have noticed a disparity. I don't think it is offensive to point out the obvious, that men are dominant in cryptocurrency spaces. With time this will change!
Absolutely, thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's indeed an advanced and beautiful technology that cannot be stood despite the ban, just the harrasment young men suffer, I appreciate your support for increased female representation in the crypto world, and Hive has proven to be one that accommodates us all, although I still think the male presence is more than female. Your observation about the gender disparity is crucial, and acknowledging it is the first step toward change. With time, I'm confident that we can work together to create a more inclusive and diverse crypto space.
Thank you for your awesome comment
