Espero que se encuentren bien y felices. Limpiando mi correo me encontré con la notificación de Cosmo Editorial de cuando fui seleccionada para enviar mi manuscrito en el 2022. Tenia años intentando escribir una novela romántica y en el 2021 me puse seria y me comprometi a terminarla, y así fue. Termine “Los enredos de Leticia” en diciembre de 2021 y justo en enero del 2022 Cosmo Editorial, una editorial que estaba en auge en ese momento y era un boom, abrió convocatoria para nuevos autores.

Mi sueño de niña (uno de los muchos) era ser escritora y publicar mis novelas, que pudiera pasar por cualquier librería y encontrar mis títulos ahí publicados. Pero aja, era un sueño y nunca en mi vida había enviado una propuesta editorial. Así que me embarqué en ese proceso, que gracias a Dios, permitieron que fuera una propuesta creativa, así que mi lado de hada artesana salió a brillar. Envié mi propuesta y básicamente tuve que olvidarme del tema porque darían los resultados para finales de septiembre.

Estábamos hablando de 8 meses, así que literal para que no me matara la ansiedad me olvide. Y también me olvidé de seguir con la revisión del manuscrito, porque de verdad no esperaba pasar. Recuerdo revisar mi correo el 30 de septiembre y quedarme muda de la impresión. Luego de eso arranqué a llorar y mi mamá no entendí que era lo que me pasaba hasta que pudo ver el correo.

A partir de ese momento me tocó correr. Tenía 4 días para enviar el manuscrito con las especificaciones que ellos solicitaban. En ese momento Buda, mi perrita, estaba recién llegada, así que tenía un cachorrito de apoyo emocional que atender. Fueron 4 días donde no dormía, no comía, solo editaba. Tomaba fotos de las páginas que llevaba listas y las ponía en mis estados de whatsapp y todos me daban ánimos para seguir. Ese fin de semana me llevaron a los hermanitos de Buda: Yuya y Simba, para que me dieran apoyo emocional (y también echarán la casa abajo en el proceso).

Logre enviar mi manuscrito completo y con más fe que la que los venezolanos tenemos en la vinotinto. A los días publicaron en su instagram la lista de los 60 finalistas para la publicación. Tendríamos que esperar hasta noviembre para que anunciaran a los 3 finalistas. Quedé agotada pero contenta con todo lo que estaba viviendo

Al final, no fui seleccionada. Pero esta gran experiencia me ayudó a creer mucho en lo que hacía y en mi poder de contar historias. Por el momento mi historia está guardada, a la espera de que decida ser contada, pero para mi sigue siendo un gran logro tenerla ahí.

I hope you are well and happy. Cleaning my mail I came across the notification from Cosmo Editorial of when I was selected to submit my manuscript in 2022. I had been trying to write a romance novel for years and in 2021 I got serious and committed to finish it, and I did. I finished “Los enredos de Leticia” in December 2021 and just in January 2022 Cosmo Editorial, a publishing house that was booming at the time and was a boom, opened a call for new authors.

My dream as a child (one of many) was to be a writer and publish my novels, that I could pass by any bookstore and find my titles published there. But aha, it was a dream and I had never in my life sent a publishing proposal. So I embarked on that process, which thank God, they allowed it to be a creative proposal, so my craft fairy side came out to shine. I sent in my proposal and basically had to forget about it because they would give the results by the end of September.

We were talking about 8 months, so I literally forgot about it so I wouldn't be killed by anxiety. And I also forgot to follow through with revising the manuscript, because I really didn't expect to pass. I remember checking my mail on September 30th and I was speechless with shock. After that I started crying and my mom didn't understand what was wrong with me until she could see the mail.

From that moment on, I had to run. I had 4 days to send the manuscript with the specifications they requested. At that time Buda, my dog, had just arrived, so I had an emotional support puppy to take care of. It was 4 days where I didn't sleep, didn't eat, just edited. I took pictures of the pages I had ready and put them in my whatsapp statuses and everyone encouraged me to keep going. That weekend I was taken to Buddha's little brothers Yuya and Simba for emotional support (and they would also tear the house down in the process).

I managed to send my completed manuscript with more faith than Venezuelans have in the vinotinto. A few days later they published on their instagram the list of the 60 finalists for publication. We would have to wait until November for them to announce the 3 finalists. I was exhausted but happy with everything I was experiencing.

In the end, I was not selected. But this great experience helped me to believe a lot in what I was doing and in my power to tell stories. For the moment my story is in storage, waiting to be told, but for me it is still a great achievement to have it there.
