An unusual but special gift / Un regalo poco común pero especial (ESP-ENG)

Espero que se encuentren bien y felices. Hace unas semanas cumplí años y pedí un regalo poco común: ir a hacerme las uñas. Fue lo único que pedí hacer el mismo día de mi cumpleaños, ni antes ni después, sino esa mañana. Todos me debatieron de que debía hacerlo antes para ya estar lista el día de mi cumpleaños y me negué.

Mi razón era sencilla y tal vez poco comprendida: yo no quería regalarme una manicure y pedicure, yo quería regalarme cuidado para mi misma. Arreglarme, darme cariño, amor y sobre todo tomarme el tiempo de ser atendida sin criticarmelo. Sí, sin criticarmelo yo misma, porque a veces puedo ser mi peor crítica al invertir tiempo en mi autocuidado.

Hoy se que fue una decisión perfecta. Tenía la cita a las 10 am, asi que me dio chance darme un baño, desayunar, arreglarme bonito e ir a mi cita. Me ofrecieron café y unas galletas al atenderme. En ese momento decidí irme por una manicura semipermanente y una pedicura tradicional. Algo que tenía claro era que quería color verde, y mi decisión resonó mucho más para mí cuando oí a una de las manicuristas decirte que las personas que elegian el color verde era porque eran decididas.

Lleve unas referencias con estrellas. Me decidí por un color verde musgo para los pies y en las manos un verde bosque muy oscuro, con una uña con un efecto ojo de gato también en color verde y otras estrellas plateadas que venían en stickers.

Con los colores decididos, me dediqué a disfrutar del cariño y del tiempo solo para mí. Café, galletas, buena música mientras me cuidaba. Algo que amé fue que me exfoliaron los pies. Eso se sintió como la gloria. Quedé muy contenta con el resultado y salí bastante relajada al mediodía. Dedicarse tiempo es algo importante para cuidar de uno mismo y algo que me ha costado aprender, pero aquí voy aprendiendo.

I hope you are well and happy. A few weeks ago I had my birthday and I asked for an unusual gift: to go and get my nails done. It was the only thing I asked to do the same day of my birthday, not before or after, but that morning. Everyone debated me that I should do it before so that I would be ready on my birthday and I refused.

My reason was simple and perhaps little understood: I didn't want to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure, I wanted to treat myself. I wanted to be groomed, to give myself affection, love and above all to take the time to be taken care of without criticizing myself. Yes, without criticizing myself, because sometimes I can be my own worst critic by investing time in my self-care.

Today I know it was a perfect decision. I had my appointment at 10 am, so it gave me a chance to take a bath, have breakfast, get dressed up nice and go to my appointment. I was offered coffee and cookies when I was served. At that moment I decided to go for a semi-permanent manicure and a traditional pedicure. One thing that was clear to me was that I wanted green, and my decision resonated even more for me when I heard one of the manicurists tell you that people who chose green were determined.

I wore some references with stars. I decided on a moss green color for the feet and a very dark forest green for the hands, with a cat eye effect nail also in green and other silver stars that came in stickers.

With the colors decided, I dedicated myself to enjoy the love and the time just for me. Coffee, cookies, good music while I took care of myself. One thing I loved was having my feet exfoliated. That felt like glory. I was very happy with the result and left quite relaxed at noon. Taking time is an important part of taking care of yourself and something I've struggled to learn, but here I am learning.
