I'm still so jaded that Hive didn't prioritise building censorship-resistant, decentralised social media front-ends.

Hive truly shot itself in the foot. The powers that are simply wanted to maintain a blogging platform that they could bilk for huge rewards.
They fought anything that move beyond the model and now the ecosystem is paying the price. The only utility left is as a decentralized (distributed) database.
