Fun Fixing a Sewing Machine

(Edited)

I got a "new" 70s era Kenmore machine from a thrift store and just oiled it so I could assess any needed repairs. Everything is moving as it should be so far. I need to replace the missing bobbin shuttle before I can test the stitch quality.

The stitch length dial has broken off, but I can change the stitch length with a wrench until I get the dial fixed.

Like all my vintage Kenmores, this machine is a heavy metal beast. This model has the most useful stitches built in, along with a built in buttonhole. They do not make home sewing machines like this any more. Those new "heavy duty" machines are not as heavy duty as a 50 year old Kenmore.
