The Purpose of our Existence (Part 2 of 3) MCGI Topic Review
Part 2 of Brother Eli Soriano's 3-part message on the purpose of our existence is explained in this post. These aspects of his wise teaching series have been running through my mind and it is amazing how they build on what was laid down in part one.
Brother Eli starts by returning to our physical bodies and noticing that they are actually meant to do good things for others rather than harm them. Our hands have soft nails and skin so we can offer solace to other people through a tender touch. We lack claws or sharp features because God did not intend for us to kill for food like carnivores.
He explains that even our thoughts and feelings only direct us towards doing what is kind and well-meaning. We sympathize with sufferers, think about how we can help those who are in need, all these attributes work together in order to perform acts of kindness, which God purposed us for.
Brother Eli cites Galatians 6:10 where it says “do good unto all men” This instruction aligns perfectly with our purpose here on earth. We are His workmanship created unto good works. Talking idly about ‘faith alone’ obscures the whole point of our purpose in life.
Some pastors wrongly teaches that good works are not important because Jesus has done everything for us, which is not true. Our bodies were prepared to love and serve others by our Creator. To disregard it would be irrational; otherwise, why do we see people lifting the burdens of others?
Brother Eli’s point is that even animals have roles to play but we as men ought to improve the lives of other people. It is therefore unnatural for us to harm or kill one another. The use of guns and knives rather than peaceful methods is inconsistent with who we are as helpers. We have hands with which to hold up the beaten down and feet meant for running away danger zones.
Lessons for Reflection
We cannot deny nor ignore God’s reason for putting us on Earth. For disobeying God as far as our creation is concerned, failure to act in a good way means nothing else but shirking off our duty. We must seize our purpose with both hands, so to speak, using those abilities which are unique only unto ourselves in order to uplift humanity altogether. May all of us then fulfill what was our destiny through compassion, guidance or physical strength.
This message reminded us that we will be judged according to our works. Let this teaching spur us to act in love, comfort and the betterment of of each other. By living righteously, together in faith, we express gratitude for the gift of life and live to please our maker.
Brother Eli wisdom in teaching should motivate us to live devotedly towards fulfilling our purpose on earth.
