Social Media 101.

The internet's blessing to mankind is social media. However, how we use social media can either benefit humanity or cause harm. That is why I agree that a course or subject about social media should be taught in schools.

If social media were added as a course or subject in schools, many people would likely oppose it because they believe it is a personal matter and that no one should teach them how to use their social media accounts. However, what many overlook is that there are ethics associated with everything, including social media. These ethics are not typically taught at home or in any other setting. Therefore, I believe that if social media courses were introduced, it would be essential to include social ethics as a key component of the curriculum.

There are a lot of things people don't know about social media, like ethics and how to handle bullies, spotting fake accounts, and things to say and not to say on social media. Before a person can be employed as a teacher to teach, the person must have empathy and must understand the danger that comes with social media.

Some people's lives are basically their social media accounts, which means we have to respect their accounts the same way we would respect them in the real world. Some people are so popular that their social life affects their physical life.

If we can educate young people on how to navigate social media responsibly, we can create a more informed, respectful, and ethical digital society. A course on social media isn’t just about teaching students how to post or gain followers—it’s about shaping responsible digital citizens who understand the impact of their words and actions, both online and offline.

Let's talk about the Korean actress who died because of the continuous online bullying from her fans and other people who don't like her. There are people who can't handle online bullying and when it gets to them, they try to take the easiest way out, which is committing suicide.

There are people whose social media has changed their lives for the better, and there are some whose social media has ruined their lives, and this happens because there are people who understand how to use social media, probably, and others who are out there to ruin people's lives.

Wouldn’t it be better if the next generation knew how to use social media as a force for good rather than a tool for harm? It’s time to start treating social media education as an essential life skill because it is.

In conclusion, social media education is something that should be taken seriously, and if possible, it should be added to the curricula in school. The world we live in is going digital and digital ethics should be taught, that is what I believe.

I also agree with you that this would be nice and help students learn about those things at a very young age, we've adult who although educated yet have little or no knowledge about social media because they weren't taught, but with this introduction it'll be a game changer.

Yeah, there are so much about social media that many people abuse or don't know how to cope if they find themselve in such situation which is why I believe it should be taught in school too.

I totally agree. Social media is part of our lives now, so learning how to use it the right way is very important. Many people don’t know how to handle online bullying or spot fake accounts. If students learn about this in school, they will use social media better and avoid problems. Great post
