This is my entry for afri-inleo initiative 6. The topic says "what resonates with you most in music. The lyrics, the rhythm or the melody?"

Let me quickly define my understanding on what some of the key words simply means. Lyrics are essential part of music as far as I am concerned even though I have not gone deep into music but lyrics speaks a lot to me. Lyrics is like the cell of any music even if one doesn't like the rhythm and melody but the lyrics gives meaning and explains what the music entails. Any Music without lyrics is like a tree without root. No matter how good a sound might be and that sound has no lyrics hmmmm believe me it will soon go on extinction. Permit to say categorically that the reason why most music fade away easily is because many of them failed to package the lyrics. Even when sound changes or dies lyrics stays immemorial.

Rhythm can be seen as a progression or movement of a song. While melody entails a tune or voice combination of pitch. Melody strengthens the power of any lyrics.

I noticed most of the songs that inspires me and gets me deep into my communion with God are not just sound but whenever I take out time to meditate in the lyrics hmmm it cut straight to my spirit mind. Once I have the lyrics, Inca easily create a rhythm or melody to accompany it. Some of the hymns we sing in our church contains heavy lyrics that gets people to there kneels to acknowledge the lordship of Jesus. The more I sing the lyrics, the more I see myself in the song.

What will it profit me if I have a good rhythm without a lyrics? It will be all boring. Is better I get the meaning of what I am singing that to dance to what I don't know. I always like making researches about songs in order to understand the song and do it better.

Since my encounter with afritunes, my perspective about music really changed positively and it's been one level of improvement to another. What really resonates with me the most in music is actually a blend between the lyrics and the melody. Sometimes you don't need to know the lyrics but by the virtue of the melody you can easily depict the lyrics. Melody helps not to make the music bored.

Recently I went for an evangelism with my beautiful team members, I played a melody for about 30minutes while they started singing other varied songs accompanying it. It was a wonderful moment. Truly a combination of the lyrics and melody excites me more in music.
I went to a church, as they were singing and playing instruments the projector displays the lyrics so that the congregation could follow the song with ease. Since then, I like projection of every song lyrics on the screen so that people can enjoy the best the music brings.

Thanks so much for reading through my input on this subject and I hope you would it relevant and perhaps add value to your life.
