Scifi Prompt Week 1// The kind of weather in my country

Source

I am very happy to be part of this beautiful and newly created community. I like its focus, and I hope to give my quota to the development and sustainability. The first of its kind prompt came with a timely topic, which is good to talk about. I haven't been to most countries of the world, but as I read other people's kind of weather and storyline, it gives me a good perspective about such locations; therefore, kudos to the entire management team for connecting us.One of the things we must be grateful for is the weather God has blessed us with.

I was wondering what would happen if there was no weather. How would the world look like without weather? What would have happened to both biotic and abiotic components in the earth? Why do we have weather? What significance does weather have amidst other factors of the earth? What is my favorite weather? I would attempt to share all these or a few of these questions I have raised in the course of my post.

Weather is the determinant of season, which enables the living and nonliving to exist. Weather is the atmospheric condition or situation of a particular place. This is a natural thing that God has made to make life enjoyable for His creatures. There are different kinds of weather that exist on the surface of the earth today, and each location is unique with its kind of weather. This also determines the kind of activities that human beings practice within such areas. In my country, there are basically two kinds of weather that we've been constantly experiencing since I was born, and as I was told as well. We have the harmattan and rainy season. These two seasons played a vital role in all the activities within my country.

The harmattan season is one of the significant seasons that rain is not experienced within such a period. It's completely dry, as some also call it. The atmospheric condition will be cold and dusty. As I am typing this, this is what is happening. Just yesterday, when I dropped my kids off at school, I decided to take another route, thinking I would arrive at my destination in good time; unfortunately, the road was a no-go area because of the massive construction going on, which raises dust everywhere. It took me time to cross to the other side. In this kind of season, some of the agricultural practices revolve around irrigation farming systems. This is a farming system where there's no rainfall, but the farmer uses another source, either a stream, river, or well, to get water to splash on the farm.

During the same harmattan season, the kind of clothes worn by people is normally thick and heavy to cover cold and minimize the effect of the weather on their body system. I noticed that during this same period, the rate of communicable disease is high. In this kind of weather, sometimes there is little heat, which comes to usher in the rainy season. During such periods, people in the interior hardly sleep inside their houses because of the heat. They preferred staying outside to moderate the heat since there is no air conditioning. Some other activities done during harmattan include fishing because the water level is low.

The rainy season, on the other hand, is one of the types of weather that is characterized by rainfall. The weather used to be chilly, and there were green grasses everywhere, which paved the way for heavy agricultural activities. In my village, plants like cereals and legumes are cultivated during this season. This weather normally puts a hold on some activities like fishing because of the increase in water level. It's in this season that erosion seems to sweep away lots of this. Just last year, even animals were affected by the flood. Drainages were blocked with dirty and other refuse. I noticed that waste management control is always difficult during this season because people dump it in areas not wanted. As I conclude, I personally prefer the harmattan season compared to the other one. Thank you.

When I lived in the north, the harmattan season was one we looked forward to.
