Aristóteles: La fortuna y el azar

¿Has escuchado a alguien decir: “bien, esto pasó, pero por suerte yo no estaba aquí?” O, ¿por fortuna tuve la oportunidad de hacer tal cosa…?”

En nuestra manera de hablar, incluimos el concepto de suerte y de fortuna como parte del azar de la vida.

Sin embargo, Aristóteles estudió esto en sus libros sobre física; y de hecho, hay unos capítulos dedicados a "las causas" en su libro de física, donde se trata de responder por qué algo ocurre.

La verdad es que son múltiples las causas que originan una situación o fenómeno, de allí que Aristóteles examinaba lo que se decía al respecto y, estudiaba si eran causas y si no eran provocadas o se podían controlar.

Estudió si estas causas eran productos del azar, de lo espontáneo o de lo mecánico.

Pero el hecho es que no vamos a realizar un ensayo sobre lo que Aristóteles escribió acerca del azar o la fortuna, más, cuando en esa época existían dioses, como la Diosa Fortuna, y muchas de las situaciones no controlables se consideraban como algo divino o demoníaco que excedía al control y la razón humana.

Pero nos interesa más... ¿Son las personas exitosas las que más suerte tienen o realmente son las más perseverantes?

Porque, todos vivimos desafíos en la vida.

Mi primo Diego

En la conversación que tuve con Diego, (con muchos rodeos porque, soy sincero, no sabía cómo preguntar sobre la suerte o el azar), tratamos muchos puntos.

Él tiene un emprendimiento de comida que le ha permitido viajar, incluso a visitar a sus familiares en el exterior; y señala, en forma central, de que la buena suerte se crea; y como él opina, lo hace mucha gente.

El asunto es que debemos generar hábitos positivos, estar abiertos a cualquier situación o camino que la vida nos presente y desde donde poder comenzar a andar y a obtener bendiciones o beneficios.

“Yo he visto personas a mi alrededor que por su carácter negativo, solamente creen y aceptan la mala suerte; han perdido oportunidades valiosas y no han conseguido trabajo donde yo, por ejemplo, lo he encontrado.”

La energía que tú produces impacta interiormente y si esta es oscura, vas a terminar en oscuridad, ciego ante las oportunidades que cada día la vida nos ofrece a todos.

Mi vecina ha sabido manejar un negocio de intercambio de dinero y facilita a los extranjeros la posibilidad de enviar recursos a sus familiares aquí, y le ha ido bastante bien.

Ella no cree que sea el caso de discutir si algo es de buena suerte o de mala suerte.

Refiere de que hay algo que nadie puede evitar, y es que el dinero está en manos de unas pocas personas que, bien sea por cultura, por educación, porque se les hereda por la familia, hace que se asuma, casi intintivamente, un modo de vivir próspero y con conocimiento del manejo del dinero.

María Lourdes piensa que la gente no conoce sus habilidades y talentos; y si hay algo que conocen aquellos que provienen de familias adineradas o con empresas, es el tipo de talento que, por herencia o cultura, tienen hacia los negocios y lo desarrollan.

De paso, en la sociedad algunos talentos, como el artístico y la misma creación de contenido, no son bien vistos, siendo talentos que se pueden desarrollar y hasta vivir de ellos.

Socialmente, vemos como persona talentosa a aquella que es capaz de lograr buenos puestos de trabajo y especializar cada vez más su profesión.

Pero hay personas que no han estudiado y son talentosas, muy exitosas.

Luis, el político

Si nos ponemos a ver, las cosas no van bien en Venezuela y hay que aprovechar cada circunstancia.

¿Tiene mala suerte el país? No.

Yo creo que son malas decisiones las que ha tomado el venezolano; pero para poder tomar una buena decisión se necesita tener el conocimiento correcto de la realidad que se vive.

Entonces, ¿existe la mala suerte? Pues no, no existe.

El azar, la mala suerte, depende de cómo vas a utilizar esa situación para sacarle algún tipo de beneficio.

“Fíjate que yo sí creo en la suerte, pero de esta manera; en que hay unas fuerzas que manejamos todos, que son sombrías en algunos momentos cuando estamos cansados, pero que, cuando estamos descansados, con buen estado de ánimo, enamorados y otras situaciones más, las cosas se nos dan con facilidad."

Es que las hacemos con energía, cariño y con potencialidad.

“Eso que tú has llamado pensamiento de poder en tus escritos es lo que debemos mantener a pesar de las dificultades y circunstancias.”

¡Se lo merece!

Una frase que se escucha mucho en mi pueblo es: “¡Se lo merece!”

¿Es la suerte, merecimiento?

Si una persona ha atraído lo positivo a su vida, se merece que sea exitosa; y si una persona ha atraído lo negativo, haciendo daño, malversando su dinero, no tomando buenas decisiones, pues, atrae lo malo.

¿Es esto racional?

¡Claro! Me parece bastante racional, pues vemos, que en países donde existe mucha corrupción, desorganización, desequilibrio en cuanto a la distribución de las riquezas, son países que siempre tienen problemas a todos los niveles, incluyendo los servicios y problemas de tipo sociales. -Dice Luis.

Pero, sin embargo, vamos a darle un punto a la suerte.

El problema es que habrá situaciones en la vida -y se ven a diario-, donde no podemos controlar absolutamente nada, salvo la capacidad de desarrollar nuestras habilidades y observar las circunstancias para poder tomar, de lo que vivimos al azar, las situaciones que nos ayuden a avanzar.

Si la suerte o el azar cuentan, eso no lo sabemos.

Pero la fortuna la vamos construyendo en la medida que tomamos buenas decisiones y logramos aprovechar las oportunidades que logramos detectar.

Aristotle: Fortune and Chance

Have you ever heard someone say, “well, this happened, but by luck I wasn't here?” Or, by fortune I had the chance to do such a thing...?”

In our way of speaking, we include the concept of luck and fortune as part of the randomness of life.

However, Aristotle studied this in his books on physics; and in fact, there are some chapters dedicated to “the causes” in his book on physics, where he tries to answer why something happens.

The truth is that there are multiple causes that originate a situation or phenomenon, hence Aristotle examined what was said about it and studied if they were causes and if they were not provoked or could be controlled.

He studied whether these causes were products of chance, of the spontaneous or of the mechanical.

But the fact is that we are not going to make an essay on what Aristotle wrote about chance or fortune, especially when at that time there were gods, such as the Goddess Fortune, and many of the uncontrollable situations were considered as something divine or demonic that exceeded human control and reason.

But we are more interested in... Are successful people the luckiest or are they really the most persevering?

Because, we all experience challenges in life.

My cousin Diego

In the conversation I had with Diego, (with a lot of detours because, to be honest, I didn't know how to ask about luck or chance), we discussed many points.

He has a food business that has allowed him to travel, even to visit his relatives abroad; and he points out, centrally, that good luck is created; and as he believes, so do many people.

The point is that we must generate positive habits, be open to any situation or path that life presents us and from where we can begin to walk and obtain blessings or benefits.

“I have seen people around me who, because of their negative character, only believe and accept bad luck; they have lost valuable opportunities and have not gotten jobs where I, for example, have found them.”

The energy you produce impacts inwardly and if it is dark, you are going to end up in darkness, blind to the opportunities that every day life offers us all.

Maria Lourdes

My neighbor has managed to run a money exchange business and makes it easy for foreigners to send resources to their relatives here, and she has done quite well.

She does not think it is the case to discuss whether something is good luck or bad luck.

She says that there is something that no one can avoid, and that is that money is in the hands of a few people who, either by culture, education, or because it is inherited by the family, makes them assume, almost intinctually, a prosperous way of living and with knowledge of money management.

María Lourdes thinks that people do not know their abilities and talents; and if there is something that those who come from wealthy families or with companies know, it is the type of talent that, by inheritance or culture, they have towards business and they develop it.

Incidentally, in society some talents, such as artistic and content creation itself, are not well regarded, being talents that can be developed and even live from them.

Socially, we see as a talented person those who are able to get good jobs and specialize more and more in their profession.

But there are people who have not studied and are talented, very successful.

Luis, the politician

If we look at it, things are not going well in Venezuela and we have to take advantage of every circumstance.

Is the country unlucky? No.

I believe that Venezuelans have made bad decisions; but in order to make a good decision you need to have the right knowledge of the reality you live in.

So, does bad luck exist? No, it does not exist.

Chance, bad luck, depends on how you are going to use that situation to get some kind of benefit out of it.

“Notice that I do believe in luck, but in this way; that there are some forces that we all manage, that are somber at times when we are tired, but when we are rested, in a good mood, in love and other situations, things come easily to us."

It's just that we do them with energy, affection and with potentiality.

“That which you have called thought of power in your writings is what we must maintain in spite of difficulties and circumstances.”

He deserves it!

A phrase you hear a lot in my village is: “He deserves it!”

Is it luck, deservedness?

If a person has attracted the positive to his life, he deserves to be successful; and if a person has attracted the negative, doing harm, embezzling his money, not making good decisions, well, he attracts the bad.

Is this rational?

Of course! It seems to me quite rational, because we see that in countries where there is a lot of corruption, disorganization, imbalance in the distribution of wealth, they are countries that always have problems at all levels, including services and social problems. -Luis says.

But, nevertheless, let's give a point to luck.

The problem is that there will be situations in life -and we see them every day-, where we can control absolutely nothing, except the ability to develop our skills and observe the circumstances to be able to take, from what we live by chance, the situations that help us to move forward.

Whether luck or chance counts, we don't know.

But fortune is built to the extent that we make good decisions and take advantage of the opportunities that we manage to detect.
