A few scary critters

While I was checking on some of the rotten sticks, branches, leaves, and some of the small woodcuts my son used to play with in the garden trying to find some growing mushrooms, I found a few scary critters instead of the lovely mushroom.

I found these critters even in one small woodcut, that was left on the ground near the plant's polybags. Yep they are quite scary, one even an invasive species that has been breeding and exploding taking over the area in just a few years.

The invasive scarry little critter is the Harpaphe haydeniana, commonly known as the yellow-spotted millipede, almond-scented millipede or cyanide millipede, is a species of polydesmidan ("flat-backed") millipede found in the moist forests along the Pacific coast of North America, from Southeast Alaska to California. The dark coloration with contrasting yellow-tipped keels warns of its ability to exude toxic hydrogen cyanide as a defense.

The one I found here is still juvenile, as it still has a brownish color on its body, although you can already see the yellow spots on the side of its body. As I mentioned it is an invasive species, although it is good to break down the organic matter and turn it into compost, since they don't have any natural predators they can roam pretty freely, some people are scared of their presence, as they will creep on the ground, even enter the house through any small opening.

I even received so many complaints because of their presence in the villa where I work, and now it is already here in my hometown, on the other side of the island.

Here it meets another scary critter, the juvenile ladybug.
Can you see it? it is on the left side of the yellow-spotted millipede. not sure how this little guy end up on the woodcuts on the ground, as it supposed to be feeding on the aphids up on the plants.

And the last one is this big ant. I hope that you can spot this little guy, as the color of the wood is similar to the color of the body of this ant.
