You can't

Have you ever been in a situation where you buy something and when you are going home, you begin to calculate, which later changes your mood? It has happened to me several times where I purchase something, and when I’m going home or all by myself, I begin to calculate how much I’ve spent and how I have to restrict myself throughout the week or the month because I know I have overspent. I know this happens to people every time, and I will talk about two important things that are obvious here.

The first thing about this pattern is that you have done something wrong because what could later change your mood means you know within yourself that what you did will affect you. When it leads you to calculate or you're improvising on how you can restrict yourself for a whole month or a whole week, it means that you have made a terrible decision, and no matter how good what you buy makes you feel, it still means that something is wrong with that decision. You did not plan it well.

You can't afford it

The second thing about this pattern is that you can’t afford it. Anytime you buy something and it leads you to calculate or regret your actions later. It only means that you can’t afford it, and how many things have you bought that you can’t afford. Most people are falling into the trap of advertising. I have mentioned this in my previous post, that the big companies prey on us and how they make us believe that we need what we are about to buy, but in reality, we don’t need it.

The easiest way to know you can’t afford something is when you have to think about it later, because have you ever bought chewing gum at a store and later thought about it? If you’re a Nigerian, you know about pure Water. Have you ever bought pure water in a shop and later regretted buying it? Most times, we do this for things we can’t afford. Anytime you find yourself in this type of situation, just know that you just made a terrible decision and you can’t afford it, and for us not to fall into this trap again, we must make plans.

Make plans

I’ve talked about budgeting and how it is important in our spending. Budget spending stops you from buying unnecessary things, and it also stops you from making emotional decisions, especially when Advertisers try to trick us into buying their products. plan stop us from making such mistakes, but if you don’t plan for your money, you are most likely to be living paycheck to paycheck, and this is not because your income is low, It is because you don’t have any plans for your income, and you keep buying things that you don’t need.

Thanks for your time.

I quite agree to what you said here because there are many times I have regretted buying stuff which I realized I shouldn’t have but channel the money elsewhere but you know, that experience has taught me lessons mostly on planning and never be too quick to get on to something until I can finally afford it. I do budget with an app that has been helping me for years now.
