Use what you love
When I was young, I hated doing my homework and I spent most of my time watching TV until my teacher in school told my mom that I didn’t do my homework and that she should do something about it. What my mom did was that she placed a rule that before I could watch TV, I must do my assignment. It was a very difficult one for me, but as time went on, I was even the one calling my mom for attention that I had not done my assignment just because I knew that without doing my homework, I wouldn’t be able to watch TV. I use what I want to do to do what I must do. Most parents used to use this strategy to get their children to do what they want them to do.
I also know a guy in our gym that without his iPad he we not be able to use the treadmill and anytime he’s with his iPad that is when you see him on the treadmill. He uses his iPad to watch music videos because that’s the only way he can stay concentrated and walk on the treadmill for hours without his notice. When I asked him, he said he loves watching music videos and that’s the only way he could take his mind off the treadmill and think about something else, which is a perfect strategy that is also working for him. He is using what he loves to do to achieve what you must do, but why don’t we do this to ourselves to create a habit?
Use what you love
Things stopping us from doing what we must do or creating a habit is something we love to do. Most times things we love to do can either be a bad or a good habit but it is stopping us from doing something new. Some people struggle a lot to create a new habit simply because they cannot do away with what they love but instead of stopping what you love, you can easily try to use what you love to do to get what is needed to be done, just like my friend used to do at the gym by watching music videos just to stay motivated to walk on treadmill. Our parents have been using this on us for centuries whereby you put everything we must do first before they allow us to do what we love and this way we will stay motivated.
Most people programmed their minds in such a way that they won’t be able to do without some of their activities and instead of struggling to stop what we have programmed our minds to do for years, we can use these as a propeller for what we must do. By making it a condition for ourselves that if we don’t do what we must do first, we won’t be able to do what we love to do. This way It will be easy for us to create a new one. Using what we love to do is just a great way to create a new habit because we can’t get into the rhythm of loving new things at once, it takes time. Using what you have been doing and what you have already loved will make it easy for us to create a new habit.
Always wanted to do it
This is one of the ways you can make your habit irresistible and also stay motivated to do it. Trying to fight yourself or pushing yourself to do what you don’t love will be hard but You can use what you love to do to achieve what must do is a common strategy that people have been using for years.
Thanks for your time.

Your post reminded me of my brother which during exams would record himself on a tape and play it while doing whatever he liked meanwhile. My mother heard his voice and didn't disturb him. :)
That was a nice strategy, some people listen to music while they read and it always worked for them.
It's kind of similar to killing two birds with one stone, I think over time we can get consistent with the things we must do when we pair it with things we love to do.
