Is savings really worth it?

It is certain that when you see a young rich man they don’t make money through savings or mutual funds it is either they have a special talent, they are into sport or entertainment or they have a rich dad. It is almost impossible for them to be rich through savings. Some people might tell you that they are into fraud but the truth is, we have some young rich men out there doing legit things, and they are rich. They are not into fraud, but is certainly not saving that helps them to get to where they are now and it is not investing in mutual funds. What is it that they know that we don’t know?

if you’ve been following me on my posts, you will know that I recommend savings a lot because I know that for most people saving your money is the first thing to do to save yourself but we should not lie, getting rich slowly is a losing game and if you are in a place like Africa where all is against you, you don’t have any choice than to just get rich slowly, but getting rich slowly is a losing game. Most people still settle for it and the truth is most people who advocate for getting rich slowly don’t make their money from getting rich slowly, they make their money from selling it.

A lie

Most people who tell you to get slow, get their money from the book they sell to you. They don’t practice what they say. Most of them sell this information to get rich and most people are still settling down for it. Trust me, I believe in getting rich slow, because I’m from Africa but saving is a losing game because you might not live to spend the money you are saving. It also means that you are giving up on your dreams. People will tell you to save for 50 years and retired to spend your money but this is our generation if you start saving around 25 years, are you saving money for 50 years that makes you 75 years old what makes you so sure that you live to that age?

Around the age of 60-70years, most people are already in wheelchairs and are waiting for death but because you want to get rich slowly, you already sacrifice your dream, your fun, and your life in the process waiting till you get old before you start spending your hard earned money isn't that a losing game. When you sacrifice your dream, the fun of your young age, and at the end of the day you are spending your money on a wheelchair is that worth it?

Oh

That’s why I used to tell my fellow Africans that saving is the way for you to start your life, but when your money becomes substantial, you have to change your mentality. Savings will not save you unless you are ready to give up on your dreams, savings will not make you rich or give you the kind of money you are looking for, investing in a mutual fund does not make you rich and even if you’re going to get rich it will be on your wheelchair waiting for your death. You have to find a way to utilize the money you save and put it into something more profitable like investing or starting up a business that is the only way to go.

Thanks for your time.

You're definitely right. It's just that one have to be careful in life. Saving everything for the future is such a boring way to live. Like you said, what if the person doesn’t even live to enjoy it? It’s better to plan for tomorrow, but still make the most of today.

And honestly, saving up money in cash doesn’t cut it anymore, especially in Nigeria, unless it’s just for something short-term.
Greetings!

Actually, it's not saving that makes people rich, it is financial literacy and financial management. Investing, doing business is the way.
