creative non fiction= turning a new leaf

avatar

Hi guys. I am a new user in this ecosystem. I have created this account recently and I am still adapting to this user friendly place. I have found some really amazing communities and people here who are willing to offer so many opportunities of growth and development.

I am a doctor by profession, but I also love writing. It is something I am very passionate about.

I have understood the rules of this community and I would try to abide by these rules.

Turning a new leaf reminds me of so many things and people in my life. I have been blessed with some really encouraging people in my surrounding and I shall remain forever grateful for that.

As I mentioned that I am a doctor by profession, choosing this field was not an easy thing for me. As a teenager, I had to be very clear about this decision and there were no people for my career counselling.

Thankfully, my father played a pivotal role here. He told me, "life is constantly providing us with different opportunities at different levels. It is up to us how we turn the new leaf and make the most of it. We have to keep our eyes open."

These few sentences and a gentle pat by him on my shoulder encouraged me to move towards all sorts of opportunities. It made me understand how important it is to turn new leaf at critical junctures of life.

Recently, I came to know about this blockchain and I new that this is really an new leaf for me to turn. It is going to be a new learning curve for me. I have always wanted to sharpen my writing skills and learn from some professional writers. I am sure that this is the right place for that very objective.

I know that this community fosters and encourages the members to engage with each other and share ideas, encourage aspiring writers. For now, my account does not have enough resources to engage with other members. It would be kind of you to delegate some Hive Power so that I can enjoy interacting with you all. Interacting with you all might be turning a new leaf for me.

Thank you for reading. Feel free to criticize constructively. I will be glad to hear from you all. Have a nice day writing my friends.

hello friend.
Welcome to hive ecosystem, its great to have you here.
Nice that you understand the community rules but there are more to it.
You have to be creative about your story, make it look fiction but a true story.
The story you are to write shouldnt include your personal onboarding story as you are meant to go direct to the story.

There are pinned post in the community with links that will direct you to articles that will guide you better.

Welcome to The Ink Well!

Now that you're here, please have a look around and get to know our community. Here are a few tips for getting acquainted:

  • Be sure to read The Ink Well community rules at the top of the community home page, and check out our FAQ about The Ink Well.
  • We accept two kinds of short stories in The Ink Well: fictional stories and creative nonfiction stories. We are all about quality, and we expect writers to carefully review their work before posting. Not doing so will result in low curation rewards or posts being ignored. You can see our article on checking your posts for grammar here.
  • You can find some great articles on fiction story writing in our catalog of fiction writing tips.
  • You can find information about what we are looking for in creative nonfiction stories in this post.

And please be sure to engage in the community by reading and commenting on the work of other community members. We ask everyone who posts in The Ink Well to read and comment on at least two other stories for each one published.

Again, welcome!

Hello @drhakam,

You have an interesting background. I'm sure this will be an asset as you blog on this platform. Wanting to follow the rules is a great start.

You have posted in the creative nonfiction category today. One of the things to keep in mind as you post here in that category is that the piece should be both true (or based on truth) and should read like a story. Tell the history, or events with color. Put us in the situation as you write. Describe how you felt, or how the main character felt if that character is not you. Try to use dialog. Describe the scene, or setting, in the piece.

You seem to be very literate. That's a great benefit here. Some of our writers start out struggling with the language. That will not be an issue for you. Also, always be sure to credit your images, even if they are your own. We never allow AI. The material presented cannot be generated by AI.

Many of these points were covered in the Inkwell welcome comment. I'm just personalizing that information.

Good luck. Have fun. That's the way I have proceeded in my blogging career here. No matter the material reward I receive, if I've had fun I already have a prize.
