Feliz día de las madres // (Esp/Eng)

Hoy celebramos el Día de la Madre en nuestro país Venezuela. Ser madre representa amor, paciencia, dedicación y respeto; ellas son las que nos cuidan y protegen cuando más lo necesitamos. Una madre significa ternura, amor y mucha empatía. Son las que nos llevan de la mano y las que nos levantan cuando tropezamos, son nuestro pañuelo de lágrimas. Una madre es todo lo que uno necesita.

Pero les cuento amigos, que aunque hoy es un día especial para todas las madres, yo todavía no me siento preparada para celebrarlo, porque me provoca un sentimiento de nostalgia y tristeza. Me resulta difícil celebrar este día, mientras para algunos es un momento de felicidad, para mí es triste, porque no tengo a mi hijo físicamente a mi lado.

Today we celebrate Mother's Day in our country Venezuela. Being a mother represents love, patience, dedication and respect; they are the ones who take care of us and protect us when we need it most. A mother means tenderness, love and a lot of empathy. They are the ones who take us by the hand and lift us up when we stumble, they are our handkerchief of tears. A mother is all one needs.

But I tell you friends, that although today is a special day for all mothers, I still don't feel ready to celebrate it, because it causes me a feeling of nostalgia and sadness. I find it difficult to celebrate this day, while for some it is a moment of happiness, for me it is sad, because I do not have my son physically by my side.

Creo que el Día de la Madre debería celebrarse todos los días, porque las madres son los seres más maravillosos del planeta, siempre están ahí cuando más las necesitamos, aunque entiendo que podemos dedicar un día especial para todas ellas y este día podemos mimarlas, consentirlas y honrarlas, similar a cuando celebramos nuestro cumpleaños, que también es un día muy importante para nosotros. También entiendo que este día es apropiado para rendir homenaje y recordar a una persona tan increíble que vino a este mundo para amar, proteger y cuidar a sus hijos; organizar una celebración para ellos no tiene precio.

Aunque no tengo a mi hijo físicamente a mi lado, sé bien lo que significa ser madre, y entiendo que es la misión más hermosa que se lleva a cabo en este mundo. Así que este día como se celebra el segundo domingo de mayo, hago lo que vengo haciendo últimamente desde hace 13 años, compro flores, voy al cementerio, me quedo allí un rato, rezo y les digo que ese día el parque del cementerio está lleno de muchos visitantes porque hay hijos que va a visitar a sus madres y llevarle flores.

I believe that Mother's Day should be celebrated every day, because mothers are the most wonderful beings on the planet, they are always there when we need them the most, although I understand that we can dedicate a special day for all of them and this day we can pamper, spoil and honor them, similar to when we celebrate our birthday, which is also a very important day for us. I also understand that this day is appropriate to pay tribute and remember such an amazing person who came into this world to love, protect and care for their children; hosting a celebration for them is priceless.

Although I do not have my son physically by my side, I know well what it means to be a mother, and I understand that it is the most beautiful mission that is carried out in this world. So this day as it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, I do what I have been doing lately for 13 years, I buy flowers, go to the cemetery, stay there for a while, pray and tell them that on that day the cemetery park is full of many visitors because there are children who go to visit their mothers and bring her flowers.

Por ello, aprovecho esta oportunidad para rendir homenaje a todas las madres que, como yo, han sufrido la pérdida de sus hijos. Entiendo que es complicado conmemorar este día, aunque muchos no comprendan lo que vivimos. Les cuento amigas que, con solo escuchar la frase "Feliz día de las madres", sentimos que nos desmoronamos, ¿saben por qué? Porque en esos momentos no somos madres felices, ya que la muerte no solo se lleva a nuestro hijo, sino que con su cruel realidad nos hace sentir que hemos dejado de ser madres. A todas esas madres que han perdido un hijo, las abrazo desde mi alma, a pesar de la distancia.

Therefore, I take this opportunity to pay tribute to all mothers who, like me, have suffered the loss of their children. I understand that it is complicated to commemorate this day, although many do not understand what we are going through. I tell you, my friends, that just by hearing the phrase “Happy Mother's Day”, we feel like we are falling apart, do you know why? Because in those moments we are not happy mothers, since death not only takes away our child, but with its cruel reality makes us feel that we have stopped being mothers. To all those mothers who have lost a child, I embrace you from my soul, despite the distance.

También quiero felicitar a todas las mamás y expresarles mi gratitud por todo lo que aportan a nuestras vidas. Aprecio su esfuerzo y dedicación, su decisión de compartir sus vidas con seres hermosos como sus hijos y su amor incondicional al estar siempre presentes.
